HARRISBURG â Again referring to a football-player-and-coach analogy he used in his 2010 re-election campaign, state Rep. Sam Smith said House Republicans â put back into the game by the âcoaches,â i.e., the voters Nov. 2 â are preparing their game plan.
âWell, weâre now in a position of kind of running onto the field,â Smith said Tuesday, shortly after members of the House Republican caucus voted to name him speaker of the state house. âJan. 4, there will be contact.â
Each year, five women are chosen by the Punxsutawney Career Womenâs Club for Career Womenâs Week, which this year runs through Nov. 13. The criteria used for choosing these women are based not only on their professional efforts, but also on the contributions they have made to community and family.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Even though the paving took place during the middle of July, the Pine Street CDBG paving project is finally closed, as reported at Mondayâs Punxsutawney Borough Council meeting.
Borough Manager Ben White said the engineer met with the contractor Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. about several areas of concern and completed the punch list of items.
White presented a change order for a reduction from the current contract price of $93,067.50 that was reduced by $8,857.55 to a new contract price of $84,209.95.
