Idella (Rushton) Ober, 88

October 21, 2014

Idella (Rushton) Ober, 88, of Marion Center, Pa., died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 after a short illness at her daughter’s home in Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.

The daughter of Will and Grace (Abel) Rushton, she was born in Grant Twp., Indiana County, Pa., on Aug. 4, 1926.

She was a graduate of Marion Center High School.

Idella was a lifelong Lutheran. She was a member of the Grove Chapel Lutheran Church, Indiana, Pa. Idella was very active in her church activities and enjoyed being a part of the Lutheran Women.

Roy G. Miller, 78

Roy G. Miller, 78, of Mahaffey, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Miller was born May 16, 1936 in Mahaffey, a son of the late Dallas and Zoe (Baker) Miller.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy E. (Hunter) Miller.

Patricia A. Miller, 62

Patricia A. Miller of Munroe Falls, Ohio, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014.

She was born July 11, 1952, in DuBois, Pa., the youngest child of James Edward and Anna Gertrude (Wachob) Soliday of Big Run and later of Cloe.

She graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1970.

She was employed in the office of the former Quaker Market in Punxsutawney before moving to Ohio in the mid-1970s.

She is survived by a brother, William (Yvonne) Soliday of Richlands, North Carolina, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Helen M. Frantz, 95

Helen M. Frantz, 95, Punxsutawney, died Oct. 21, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born March 13, 1919, in Adrian, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Istvan) Bendlock.

On Nov. 3, 1941, she married Millard J. Frantz in Punxsutawney. He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1980.

Helen was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.

She was a member of the Groundhog Campers Association and a former member of the Ladies Guild of Ss Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.

FCOG to host annual 'Free Clothing Days'

YOUNG TOWNSHIP — Almost everyone has heard of "Where's Waldo?" The same could be applied to the First Church of God's "Free Clothing Days," as Shelley Rowan, coordinator, appears to be overwhelmed with the amount of clothing that has been donated again this year.

“Free Clothing Days" will be held this Friday and Saturday at the First Church of God gymnasium on Skyview Drive, Young Township.

Tennis opens PIAA State Tournament today

This afternoon, Amber Ward (pictured) and the Lady Chucks girls' tennis squad will participate in the opening round of the PIAA State Championship Team Championships, as they take on Indiana — the runner-up out of the WPIAL.

The Punxsy girls' soccer team will also participate in the playoffs tonight, as it opens the District IX Tournament with a semi-finals game against top-seeded Bradford at 5 p.m. in Brockway.

Joseph T. Renwick, 73

Joseph T. Renwick, 73, of 133 Terrace Road, St. Marys, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 23, 1941 in St. Marys, the son of the late Aurelia E. O’Donnell and the Honorable State Representative William F. Renwick.

He was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1959, and was a 1963 graduate of Alfred University.

Joyce Ann McClincy, 83

Joyce Ann McClincy, 83, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at the Harrisburg Hospital.

Born Dec. 6, 1930, in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late Helen (Howell) Snyder and Gerald “Bus” Snyder and the only granddaughter of the late Charles Snyder, who at one time was the owner of the Pantall Hotel and Prothonotary of Jefferson County.

Joyce was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School Class of 1948. She was a very stylish woman and a pet lover. She enjoyed gardening, dancing and skiing.

Agnes Johannah Keibler, 85

Agnes Johannah Keibler, 85, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.

She was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Jeannette, Pa., a daughter of the late Albert Merle McCauley and Kathryn (Hays) McCauley.

On Dec. 18, 1946 she became the wife of Howard Eugene Keibler. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1990.

Agnes was a hardworking farmer's wife who wouldn't settle for the term "I can't do it." She was determined and headstrong and raised her children to be the same.
