The point of the project will be to highlight a member of the community who may be recognizable to many and tell his or her story.

Today’s familiar face is Lynne Stello.)

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Lynne Stello is a familiar face. You may recognize her as a teacher’s aide for the Life Skills class at Punxsutawney Area High School. Or perhaps you have seen her throughout the community.

Dennis Lee Minich, 57

August 7, 2014

Dennis Lee Minich, 57, of Reynoldsville, died on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, after a short illness.

He was born May 31, 1957, in Kittanning, a son of the late George Walter Minich and Marie (Shepler) Minich.

She survives and resides in Reynoldsville.

Dennis was a graduate of Redbank Valley High School in New Bethlehem, Pa.

On Aug. 23, 1980, he married the former Cheryl Ann Watkins. She survives and resides in Reynoldsville.

Walter Ray Smith, 81

August 7, 2014

Walter Ray Smith, 81, of Hamilton, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at home with his family.

He was born July 15, 1933, in Grange, a son of the late Coy McCoulter Smith, Sr. and Velda Jane (Whitesell) Smith.

He attended the Hamilton United Methodist Church.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.

On Dec. 8, 1956, he married the former Mary Irene McKee. She survives and resides in Hamilton.

Walter worked as a laborer at Jefferson Machine until his retirement. He was also a caretaker for Deemer brothers.

Music in the Park Tonight!

Music in the Park continues at 6:30 p.m. tonight with The Banned. The band leader, Samantha Sears, is a Punxsy native, and she’s accompanied by Jared Thomas. They will be playing a set with a blended acoustic rock sound.

Cherry Street Fire

Neighbors reported seeing smoke coming from a house at 182 Cherry St., Punxsutawney, at 6:06 a.m. When Punxsutawney firefighters arrived on scene there was heavy smoke and flames showing.

Rathmel Blvd. fire damages inside of house

RATHMEL — A quickly spreading kitchen fire gutted a home located at 150 Rathmel Blvd. in the village of Rathmel, just outside of Reynoldsville, at approximately 3:53 p.m. on Tuesday.

CITP Offering proceeds go to We Care Pregnancy Center

Church In The Park (CITP) representatives recently gathered at the We Care Pregnancy Center in Punxsutawney to make a contribution from offerings received at this year’s CITP.

In total, more than $3,200 was donated from the event to the center.
