Agnes M. Piekielek, 90, Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Piekielek was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Adrian, a daughter of the late Michael Skarbek and Mary (Sekula) Skarbek.
June 10, 1944, she married John L. Piekielek, who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2000.
Mrs. Piekielek was a member of the St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church and was devoted to her faith and her loving family. She enjoyed reading and caring for her flower gardens.
M. Gertrude Eggleston, 88, Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at Mahoning Riverside Manor in Punxsutawney.
She was born April 22, 1922, in Brookville, a daughter of the late Bernard Henry and Clare (Rowan) Henry.
Sept. 15, 1947, she married Joseph Eggleston, who preceded her in death Nov. 14, 1991.
Mrs. Eggleston was a parishioner at Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church.
She was a member of the Homemakers Club; Catholic Daughters of America; Rosary Altar Society; and the Bell Telephone Pioneers.
Rita M. Cook, 81, Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at home.
She was born March 13, 1929, in Brockway, a daughter of the late Benjamin Fidler and Margaret (Archibald) Fidler.
June 10, 1950, she married Harry W. Cook, who preceded her in death Jan. 12, 2006.
She attended the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cook was a graduate of Brockway High School; contributed to and enjoyed IUP football and her community.
She was a former beautician and she and her husband were the former owners of Jefferson Machine in Punxsutawney.
James L. Behrendt, 80, Brookville, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Andrew Behrendt and Elizabeth (Morgan) Behrendt.
Mr. Behrendt was married to Annabell (Parise) Behrendt, who survives.
He was a mechanic at Cadillac Motors in Detroit, Mich., and a parishioner of Saint Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Walston.
Steve F. Ballas, 87, Walston, passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Wellington Heights.
Arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
William J. “Farmer Bill” Aul, 82, Juneau, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Aul was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Andrew Aul and Dorothy (Quallich) Aul.
June 14, 1960, he married Joan (Mueck) Aul, who survives, of Juneau.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was a Chaplin for the Rossiter American Legion Post No. 582 and enjoyed gardening.

CLEARFIELD — The Punxsutawney varsity wrestling team knew heading into Clearfield Wednesday night that it would be challenged at every weight and would be in for a tough night, and that's exactly what the Chucks got.
The Bisons were too powerful down the lineup, earning a 48-17 victory over the Chucks (1-1), a victory that may seem lopsided, but for Punxsy head coach Eric Eddy, a loss that had plenty of upside.
HARMONY — The Lady Chucks picked up their second win of the season Thursday night as Punxsy traveled to Harmony and earned a convincing 54-31 win to push its record to 2-4 on the season.
The Lady Chucks jumped out to a 14-6 first-quarter lead before pulling away in the second frame to make it 26-11 at halftime.
The second half was more of the same for Punxsy as the Lady Chucks used swift ball movement and sharp shooting to increase its lead to 41-24 after three quarters before putting things away in the fourth.

BROOKVILLE and THE USS HARRY S. TRUMAN — Christmas will be different for Jeffrey Draa and his mother, Joann, this year. Namely, they will be together during the holidays for the first time in three years.
Draa is a member of the U.S. Navy, and serves on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, which has been at sea for the past 211 days, according to Lt. Katie Cerezo, assistant public affairs officer for the Truman. Draa has been on board for that entire duration.
