PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” The Punxsutawney Fire Department was recently the recipient of a donation of pet-sized oxygen masks from an area group that specializes in taking care of people and animals.
Jerry Volpe, one of the founders of the DuBois Pennsylvania Humanitarian Riders/RG Bikers Against Animal Cruelty, said the kits come with three different sizes of pet masks and will fit from small to large dogs or cats.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Pennsylvania American Water said Monday that it is no longer necessary for customers living in parts of Young Township and Punxsutawney to boil water before use. Acceptable bacteria test results were obtained from samples collected on Feb. 8 and 9, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has authorized lifting of the precautionary advisory.

The Arizona Wildcats traveled to Tempe to face in state rival Arizona State for what they expected to be an easy game. Arizona State came into the game at the bottom of the PAC 12 at 3-6 in conference play. The Sun Devils came out firing as they shot 50% from the field (26/52) and 46.7% from 3 (7/15). Guard Bo Barnes paced the Sun Devils with 18 points including a perfect 8 for 8 from the charity stripe.

HARMONY â€” A two-vehicle accident occurred on Friday evening on Route 310 near Harmony Road in Young Township.
According to reports from the scene, the accident occurred when one of the vehicles pulled out in front of the other, causing the collision.
Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police were assisted at the scene by the Punxsutawney Fire Department, Jefferson County EMS and Rebuck's South Side Service.
No further details were available at Spirit press time.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€”Â State Route 36 between Hillcrest Drive and Skyview Drive in Punxsutawney has been closed until further notice due to a sinkhole that formed near Hillcrest Drive early this morning.
Gary Lobaugh, External Affairs Manager for Pennsylvania American Water, said the main break occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning and has caused a number of customers in the Walston area and other portions of Young Township to be without water services.
The 2015 PAHS Winter Queen and Princess, as voted by this yearâ€™s senior class, were crowned during halftime of Fridayâ€™s varsity boysâ€™ basketball game against DuBois. Late Thursday night, DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police reported a fatal accident that occurred at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday on State Route 255 Bennetts Valley Highway, Huston Township, Clearfield County.
Police said the crash occurred as a 2010 Dodge Caliber driven by Jason Allen Trask, 33, St. Marys, was traveling south on the highway and, for an unknown reason, was traveling in the northbound lane. A 2015 Thomas school bus operated by Chrystal Marie Miller, 37, Curwensville, was traveling north on State Route 255 and was loaded with 12 pre-school children.
Punxsy won the final six bouts in Thursday night's wrestling match at Marion Center to come from behind and pick up a 45-36 victory over the Stingers on their Senior Night in Marion Center.
