Janet L. (Wolfgang) Dana-Fry, 73

November 28, 2014

Janet L. (Wolfgang) Dana-Fry, 73, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at her home.

Mrs. Dana-Fry was born Sept. 5, 1941, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late James and Ethelyn (Johnson) Wolfgang.

Mrs. Dana-Fry was preceded in death by her husband and eternal companion, Don Dana.

She was a 1960 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

Viola Baun, 86

Viola Baun, 86, of Altoona, formerly of Rochester Mills, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at UPMC Altoona.

Mrs. Baun was born May 13, 1928, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edward G. and Anna May (Stitt) Guyer.

She was a member of the Fellowship of the Silver Star and the Christian Missionary Alliance Church.

On Aug. 22, 1952, she married her husband, David W. Williams II, who preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1967.

Jefferson County EMS receives GCU donation

The Greek Catholic Union (GCU) of the USA recently donated the proceeds from a stuffed cabbage dinner to Jefferson County EMS. Phyllis Miles Cole, 88

Phyllis Miles Cole, 88, of Mt. Dora, Florida, formerly of Shannondale, died Wednesday Nov. 26, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Clarion, Pa.
Born on Feb. 4, 1926, in Mayport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. Shick and Florence Buffington Shick.

Phyllis graduated from Hawthorne High School.

She was married to Clyde E. Miles, who preceded her in death on May 20, 2008. She later married Doug O. Cole, who also preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 2014.

Howard P. Robbins Jr., 83

November 25, 2014

Howard P. Robbins Jr., 83, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at home.

He was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Howard P. Robbins Sr. and Emma Mae (Jordan) Robbins, and grew up in Cloe.

On Feb. 8, 1953, he married Martha J. (Neal) Robbins, who survives.

He was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School Class of 1949 and then graduated from Penn State.

Howard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Cloe United Methodist Church.

Howard was an avid gardener and was a great baseball fan.

John Harley Dill Sr., 69

November 25, 2014

John Harley Dill Sr., 69, of Punxsutawney died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born Oct. 4, 1945, in Oakland, California, a son of the late John Mell and Betty Ann (Pry) Dill.

On May 29, 1964, he married the former Theresa Ann Rhuby. She survives and resides in Punxsutawney.

Mr. Dill proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with a bronze star and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.

He enjoyed collecting stamps.

DuBois City Police report charges in statutory sexual assault of juvenile

DUBOIS — The DuBois City Police provided an update on a statutory sexual assault of a 13-year-old female that occurred on July 8 in the City of DuBois.

While on patrol in the early hours of July 8, the DuBois City Police came into contact with a 13-year-old female who was intoxicated and being assisted with walking home by two other individuals. While investigating the incident further, police found that the juvenile female had sexual contact with a 19-year-old male.

Millard "Bud" Hickox, 81

November 25, 2014

Millard "Bud" Hickox, 81, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at home.

He was born March 22, 1933, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Millard and Mary (Sample) Hickox.

He was a laborer in the construction industry.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a Sgt. during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Edward Allen Pearce, 83

November 22, 2014

Edward Allen Pearce, 83, passed away on Nov. 20, 2014, at VMP Trinity in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Plumville, Pa., to Edward Lloyd and Alice Elizabeth (Downing) Pearce and step-mother, Louise Irene Pearce.

Edward enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, bowling and casino trips.

He worked and later retired as an electrical lineman for IBEW Local 9. He was involved with Cub and Boy Scouts Troop 76 in Waukegan, Illinois, for many years.

He was the beloved husband to the late Esther L. Pearce.
