Kathi D. States, 60

Kathi D. States, 60, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born March 22, 1954, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Parnell G. and Iona G. (Hawk) Reed.

On June 24, 1972, she married David M. States, who survives.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney.

She was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and enjoyed camping and cooking.

Sarah J. Bishop, 85

September 3, 2014

Sarah J. Bishop, 85, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at home with her family.

She was born April 15, 1929, in Walston, a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Matilda (Martzloff) Smith.

On Nov. 15, 1947, she married Carl O. Bishop, Sr. He survives and resides in Punxsutawney. She was a loving and faithful wife of nearly 67 years.

Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Walston, where she was also a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Sarah worked with her husband and sons at the family-owned business of Cloe Lumber.

Eerie clouds; no confirmed tornado; no electricity

Here we go again, as more clouds that could have become tornadoes swirled through the Punxsutawney area at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday and cut power to many.

Punxsy filmmaker meets pro skateboarder Tony Hawk in process of filming skatepark documentary

Brady’s film will document the process of a memorial skatepark being built in Carnegie, and Hawk’s foundation is involved with helping fund the park.

Deanna M. Wilt, 58

Deanna M. Wilt, age 58, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.

Born June 23, 1956, in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late Dean H. & Luva M. (Reese) Kerr.

On May 29, 1976, she married William D. Wilt. He survives.

She was the administrator of the DuBois Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and had worked at the DuBois Harley-Davidson Shop.

While living in Punxsutawney, she was a legal secretary for several attorneys.

She was a member of the DuBois Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.

Martha A. Good, 89

September 1, 2014

Martha A. Good, 89, Marion Center, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Mulberry Square.

She was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Raymond C. and Dorothy (Walters) Perkins.

On Dec. 28, 1943, in Marion Center, she married Frank L. Good, who preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2005.

She worked for the Marion Center Speedway in the concession stand for 15 years and also assisted her husband on the family farm.

Maxine Mae Wissinger, 86

September 1, 2014

Maxine Mae Wissinger, 86, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014.

The daughter of Edward and Lillian (Veite) Pierce, she was born July 30, 1928, in Punxsutawney, Pa.

Maxine was a member and very active in the Curry Run Church.

She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maxine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
