PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” The Punxsutawney Rotary Club announced its Rotarians of the Year at its annual banquet, which was held at the Punxsutawney Country Club on Tuesday, and this year, there were two recipients.
Erin Cameron, incoming president, said that the choice is never simple, as there are so many hard-working, enthusiastic, dedicated individuals.
Doug Chambers and Tom Chelgren were both chosen as this year's Rotarians of the Year.
Dave London, emcee, welcomed the new Rotary members, Tammy and Tim Carulli, Chris Neal, Sue Wolfe and Laurie Klingensmith.
The three instructors in the Practical Nursing (PN) program spoke to the Jeff Tech Operating Committee (JOC) about the promotion of the program in the last month.
However, the JOC committee voted Monday to eliminate the three instructor positions.

David Beatty of Punxsutawney submitted this photos of a black bear he and his family observed in the distance in the field near Gobblerâ€™s Knob around 8 p.m. on Monday night.
While black bears are great to observe from a distance, with the sightings of them becoming more frequent, the Pennsylvania Game Commission reminds residents to keep their distance.
Mark A. Ferko Jr., 27, of Falls Creek, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Reynoldsville.
He was born July 2, 1986, in DuBois, the son of Mark A. Ferko of Sykesville and Kathy Y. Fincham of Youngstown, Ohio.
Mark is survived by a half brother, Michael Fincham of New Bern, North Carolina; a half sister, Jennifer Houston of Youngstown, Ohio; two nephews, Kyle and Connor Houston; his paternal grandparents, Michael and Louise Ferko of Falls Creek; and special friend Danielle Ritchie and children Lola and Kem of Reynoldsville.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.
Ricky L. Kuntz, Jr. 38, of Butler, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Butler on Feb. 3, 1976, a son of Ricky L. Kuntz Sr. and Mary Ann Hinchberger Fitzpatrick.
Ricky was a loving and compassionate husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, helping people and spending time with his daughters.
He was employed as a driver for Vogel Disposal Company. He had obtained a CDL and drove throughout the country, until recently moving back to Butler to be closer to his children.
Robert M. Sink, 72, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, formerly of Punxsutawney and Clymer, passed away June 6, 2014, at his home.
The son of Edward Sink and Katherin Milliron Sink, Bob was born Dec. 5 1941, in Punxsutawney.
He was a graduate of the Clymer High School and a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
Bob also retired from Unysis Corporation as a project manager.
