Ruth Organ, 98, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at
Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville.
She was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Sugarhill, Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Jay Merton and Florence Eleanor (Blight) Steele.
On April 22, 1938, she married James Alexander Organ III, who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1992.
Ruth was a member of the St. Peters United Church of Christ for 70 years.
Mrs. Organ and her husband, Jim, founded Bells Mills Trading Post, Inc., which pioneered propane gas business in Jefferson County.
Jack Robert Kromer, 84, of Covode, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at home.
He was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Daniel and Isabella (Nichols) Kromer.
Mr. Kromer was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam prior to his retirement.
On Oct. 12, 1950, he married the former Anna Isabelle Engle. She survives.
After retirement, he started an auto repair garage, where he enjoyed working on cars, tractors and mowers.
He enjoyed watching and feeding wildlife around his home.
Robert Lee Coulter, 62, of Coolspring, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1951, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late William Wayne and Frances Lucille (Burkett) Coulter.
Mr. Coulter served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
On Oct. 15, 1983, he married Robin Dianne Ishman. She survives.
Bob worked as a foreman for Penn Line Service, Inc.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
A crowd gathered Saturday for the official ribbon cutting of the Gobblerâ€™s Knob Trail located at â€” where else â€” Gobblerâ€™s Knob.

Festival at Big Run
There will be an ice cream and strawberry festival held in Cox's Hall, Big Run, on Friday and Saturday evenings, June 15th and 16th, under the auspices of the Ladies' Aid Society for the benefit of the M.E. Church.
A very pleasant time is anticipated and all are invited to attend.
