PUNXSUTAWNEY — Following several attempts, Punxsutawney Borough Council finally voted to approve the new borough sign ordinance.

Punxsy BETA Sorority pitches in to assist Western PA Cares For Kids

The Punxsutawney Beta Sorority presented a donation of $1,000 to Western PA CARES for Kids to assist with their new medical and therapy addition.

Robert W. Mayes, 69

June 10, 2014

Robert W. Mayes, 69, passed away on May 30, 2014, at Good Shepherd Hospice from his battle with cancer.

Born in Punxsutawney in 1944, he moved to Lakeland in 1986, where he worked as a heavy machinery mechanic and retired from FME.

After retiring, he took up gardening and created a beautiful landscape paradise where many have gathered to enjoy its beauty.

His other love was golf. He enjoyed playing with his buddies at Cleveland Heights Golf Course.

He was of the Baptist faith.
