Each year, five women are chosen by the Punxsutawney Career Womenâ€™s Club for Career Womenâ€™s Week. The criteria used for choosing these women are based not only on their professional efforts, but also on the contributions theyâ€™ve made to community and family.
Mary J. â€śJosephineâ€ť Justice, 97, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at AM-PM Personal Care Home in DeLancey.
She was born Dec. 20, 1916, in Porter Township, a daughter of the late Samuel and Ruth (Barnett) Justice.
She grew up on a farm near Porter. She worked at Loree Footware Shoe Factory as a sewer for 30 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Justice of Punxsutawney;
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police reported on Wednesday that M. Lisa Saldana, 52, of Wayne Avenue in Punxsutawney, was arrested at 7:55 a.m. and charged with several violations of the drug act â€” including possession with intent to deliver controlled substances and additional criminal charges to include money laundering and corrupt organizations â€” for incidents allegedly taking place between July 2012 and May 2014.
