PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Throughout the country, our fallen heroes were honored at Memorial Day observances, including here in Punxsutawney with a parade through downtown and a memorial service that was held under blue skies and bright sunshine in Barclay Square.

Thomas W. Siesky, 57, of Victor Avenue in Warren, Pa., formerly of Brookville, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Warren General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 7, 1956, in Brookville, the son of Jane Brooks.
He is survived by his companion, Susan Slater, of Warren, Pa.
Thomas worked as the owner and operator of the American Hotel in Brookville.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pirates. He was previously a member and active in Ducks Unlimited.
Gifford â€śBudâ€ť Sheesley, 83, of Economy, Pa., died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
Born May 30, 1930, in Hamilton, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert and Lossie Smith Sheesley.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Sheesley; two brothers; and five sisters.
Surviving are four daughters, Robin Sheesley (Honalee) of North Carolina, Sandy (David) Novak of East McKeesport, Bonnie Story of Wisconsin and Darlene (George) Batch of South Carolina; seven
