Van Stephen Harvey, 64, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, while vacationing in Cozumel, Mexico, with his family.
He was born Jan. 17, 1950, in Barnsboro, Pa., a son of Helen Ferensic Harvey Farmery and the late James Harvey.
On Dec. 8, 1973, he married Kay (Wehry) Harvey, who survives. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
He owned and operated Harveyâ€™s Plumbing and Heating for the past 43 years in the Punxsutawney area.
He was an avid reader and loved history, especially the Civil War era.
Randy Wayne Harp, 56, of Milford, Del., formerly of Punxsutawney, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Del.
Randy was born in Punxsutawney, the son of Olive (Kiehl) Harp and the late Wayne Harp.
He was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School in 1975 and graduated from Clarion State College in 1979 with a bachelorâ€™s degree of science in education.
In September of 1980, Randy married the love of his life, Beverly Susan
It's once again time for the Run or Walk for Someone Special event. The event â€” which will be the 35th annual installment â€” will be held on Sunday at the town hall in Sykesville. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m., with the race starting at 3 p.m. A Zumbathon charity event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. this Saturday at the Sykesville town hall. This year's co-chairs are Erin Cameron and Bill Cuba. Proceeds from both events will benefit The Arc of Jefferson and Clearfield counties.
BANKS TOWNSHIP, INDIANA COUNTY â€” Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police reported on Monday that the station is investigating a fire that occurred over the weekend on Spotts Road in Banks Township, Indiana County.
Police said Fred T. Williamsâ€™ residence caught fire near the front of the residence at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Sunday.
The structure was totally destroyed, and the cause of the fire had not yet been determined.
Damage is estimated at approximately $150,000.
The investigation is ongoing.
