Annual Peeper Banquet pays tribute to late Chuck & Sara D. Fox

S. Thomas Curry (left) gave a helping hand to Terry A. Fye, the guest speaker for the Big Run Spring Peeper Banquet that was held Sunday at the Big Run War Memorial.

Curry assisted Fye by leading the singing at the annual banquet with a parody of several songs, “Here We Go Round the Peepers Pond,” “The Peepers in the Pond,” “Peeper Bells” and “There'll Be Croaking From the Swamp Soon.”

The banquet honored the late Chuck and Sara Fox.

ROTARY AUCTION NETS NEARLY $35,000

The 2014 Punxsutawney Rotary Auction was held from 9 a.m. to 5:45 p.m Saturday at BFG Manufacturing.

The day was certainly a busy one, with several volunteers on hand to answer the ringing phones.

According to Erin Cameron, Rotary Club vice-president, about $35,000 was raised.

Among the many items up for auction were dinner and a meet-and-greet for two at the upcoming Kenny Rogers concert, as well as two tickets to a Pittsburgh Penguins game.
