John Ellery McMahan, 84, of Rochester Mills, Pa., went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehab Center, Clearfield, Pa.
The son of John D. and Cleo (Pardee) McMahan, he was born on April 12, 1929.
John was a member of the C&MA Church and also attended the Methodist Church.
Mr. McMahan retired from U.S. Steel, American Bridge Division, Ambridge, Pa.
James Wesley Hockin, 92, of Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013.
The son of Percival and Adah (Bassett) Hockin, he was born Sept. 20, 1920, in DuBois.
After moving to Punxsutawney, Jim attended Punxsutawney High School and graduated in 1938.
Jim was employed in the coal industry all his life. In 1950, he moved to Greene County, where he was employed by Duquesne Light Mining for 19 years. He moved to Indiana in 1969, where he was employed by R & P and the federal government as an inspector for MSHA. He retired in 1983 from the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
Joseph Ralph Hill, 78, of Rossiter, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney.
He was born March 12, 1935, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Harry and Flora (Pollock) Hill.
He was married first to Hazel Fleeger, who preceded him in death. He then married Joyce Stewart Hill, who survives.
He was an automotive mechanic by trade.
He was a member of the Laurel Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church in
He was a veteran of the US Navy.
Joseph Ford of S. Gilpin Street in Punxsutawney died on July 2, 2013.

Amber Jones, Brittany Burnette, Corey Burnette, all the grandchildren and best friends Michael Sanner and Lester Tyler, all of Punxsutawney.
Services will be held at Eagles Alarm Ministry, 212 Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, on Aug. 18 at 4 p.m.
After weeks of waiting the Sawmill Run bridge located on West Mahoning Street (Route 36) was finally closed to traffic on Monday morning, following weeks of delays due to utility relocation issues. The road is closed between the intersections of Walnut Street and Foundry Street for the replacement of the bridge carrying Route 36 over Sawmill Run.
A detour is in place using Route 436 and Route 119. This detour will be in place until November 2013. The $1,091,540 bridge replacement project is being constructed by M & B Services, LLC of Clarion.
DUBOIS â€” When Dianna Helt lost her son, Paul Bair Jr., in 2011 to suicide, she was consumed with grief. But as time went on, she felt a desire to help others who were suffering a similar kind of grief.
Helt is the Chapter Products Officer of the Jefferson County A.B.A.T.E. of PA, Chapter No. 14, District 5, which stands for "Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education."
A.B.A.T.E. is an organization of motorcyclists dedicated to the protection of the individual rights of motorcyclists through political change, public education and charitable works.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Once again, those in attendance felt that God was watching over this year's Church in the Park celebration by disposing of the rain in time for the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday in Barclay Square.

Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police with assistance from Punxsutawney Borough Police, investigated an alleged aggravated assault that occurred at approximately 9 a.m. Saturday at a camper located at 503 Elderberry Hill Rd., Bell Township. According to police, they are investigating a domestic dispute involving a firearm between Peter C. Parente, 50, and a 31-year-old female. Charges have been filed at district court against Parente for aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. The investigation is ongoing.
Ruth E. Beck, 86, Punxsutawney, died on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at home.
She was born July 16, 1927, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Daniel and Isabel (Nicholson) Kromer.
She was married to the late Wayne B. Beck for 63 years and was a lifelong resident of Punxsutawney. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2009.
She loved gardening and being outdoors.
She worked for 19 years in the office of Dr. L.R. McCauley and for 11 years in the office of Dr. George Cherian. She was a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for over 10 years.
Lorraine Mable Eminhizer, 87, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville.
She was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Mill Hall, Pa., the daughter of the late Oran Frederick and Anna (Moore) Bodle.
She was married to John Roland Eminhizer on Oct. 22, 1941, in Mill Hall, Pa.
She was an accountant and worked at several firms, including Barrish Advertising of State College, Pa.
