PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Punxsutawney Borough Police Department reported that Steven D. Miller, 18, of Punxsutawney, was charged with forgery (24 counts), identity theft (24 counts), theft by unlawful taking (25 counts),
receiving stolen property (25 counts), criminal conspiracy (45 counts) and theft by deception (24 counts).
Police said the charges stem from a March 19 incident on Belmont Avenue.
Miller was committed to the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of posting $80,000 cash bail.
Tom Curry (left), Ginger Momyer (center) and Kathy Bish paused during rehearsal for "Laughing All the Way," an evening of entertainment being presented this month by the Jefferson County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR) and the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging.
The show benefits PASR's Educational Support Grant and the activities of each hosting senior center. In addition to the light-hearted songs, skits, jokes, a monologue and a most unusual fashion show, audiences will be treated to an assortment of desserts and beverages during intermission.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â For the first time in recent seasons, Punxsy was able to defeat Bradford in a boys' track and field dual meet.
The Chucks swept the three relays and won four of the seven field events including sweeping the discus to clip the Owls, 80-70, and complete a perfect dual meet season on Senior Day for nine seniors.
The nine Punxsy seniors enjoying victory in their final home dual meet included Alex Bevak, Will Boddorf, Austin Couser, Will Harmon, Dylan Lettie, Jordan London, Zach Minich, Jesse Reichard and Nate Ward.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Talent dots the Lady Chucks track and field roster but high numbers of athletes does not.
In the final dual matchup of the spring season, visiting Bradford used its team depth to produce a close but victory nonetheless of 87-63 over Punxsy on Tuesday afternoon.
The six Punxsy seniors giving their utmost for their final home dual meet included Alyson Dickey, Heather Giavedoni, Aleya Hanna, Karah Hollis, Santana Smith and Alexis Young.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Punxsutawney Area School Board voted to approve the preliminary budget for the 2013-14 school year at Monday's voting meeting.
Bob Pascuzzo, board member, asked how much fund balance the district will need to finish the 2012-13 school year.
Susan H. Robertson, district business manager, said as of right now, she has projected $500,000 but believes it will be closer to $300,000 by the end of the school year.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â Last Friday, the students at Parkview Elementary School were given a special treat, when Dr. Robert Altmeyer, who the students already knew as âDr. Bob,â and his two helpers â his son Aaron and Therman the dog â delivered a presentation to them on taking care of their pets.
After some brief introductions, Altmeyer showed the students how to do a pet inventory and asked the students what kinds of pets they had.
BROOKVILLE â Tonya S. Geist has announced that the Jefferson County Prothonotary & Clerk of Courts Office will be hosting a special passport event this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 200 Main St., Brookville.
âThe fair is to provide passport information to the citizens and to accept passport applications for persons who may not be accommodated during regular business hours,â Geist said.
U.S. citizens must present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air.

ALTOONA â It is always nice to sweep a school more than twice your size.
A big five-run fifth inning powered Punxsy over host Altoona, 7-2, to sweep the season series.
The Lady Chucks won the contest on their home field, 10-5, on April 11.
"We started out slow. We hit the ball, just didn't find holes or string any hits together until the fifth," explained Punxsy head coach Alan Pifer. "Ashley Bacha did a good job keeping us in the game until then."
The Punxsutawney Garden Club beautification committee continues to plan for the new planting season.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â There is good news in downtown Punxsutawney: The Punxsutawney Area Community Center (PACC) continues to grow under the current board of directors after it came perilously close to closing its doors circa August 2009.
"There's been quite a change at PACC regarding our facilities under the current board of directors," said Rob McCoy, PACC director.
McCoy said he's been helping out at the center off and on since 1998.
