September 17, 2013

PUNXSUTAWNEY — You've heard of doing something on a wing and a prayer — as in doing something when you're not prepared. But have you heard of doing something on a whim and a prayer? While some would use the two expressions interchangeably, they have very different meanings.

The Punxsutawney Christian Women's Conference started back in 2010 on what one might call the latter — a whim, or arbitrary impulse, and a prayer, or a few of them.

Blose leads Punxsutawney past DCC

September 16, 2013

PUNXSUTAWNEY— In an "anything you can do, I can do better" example, the boys' golf team doesn't want to be overlooked by the girls' golf team, as both are having extraordinary seasons.

When DuBois Central Catholic came to town, the Chucks made sure that they represented the Punxsy golf program well, defeating the Cardinals 181-193.

All season long, there has been a different golfer who has stepped up to lead the team to victory in each match.

On Monday, it was Brandon Blose's turn.

Blose shot a course-low 42 on the front-nine, par-37 course.
