Don’t let ‘the one’ get away: Bass season now underway

Friday, these young anglers were fishing for trout at Cloe Lake in Bell Township and even caught one.

Today, they are now permitted to catch bass, as that particular season started at midnight.

PCS marks milestones for Class of 2013, Class of 2025

The Punxsutawney Christian School said “Congratulations” to the PCS Class of 2013 and Class of 2025 recently.

The graduating seniors and kindergarten students recently participated in ceremonies marking these major milestones in their lives and the start of their next chapters.

Those associated with PCS would like to give their best wishes and prayers to these students as they continue on their life journeys.

Dolly Lou Snyder, 82

Dolly Lou Snyder, 82, of Coolspring, formerly of Georgia, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Mrs. Snyder was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Coolspring, a daughter of the late Wilbert T. Burkett and Pearle E. (Best) Burkett.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert "Bear" Lingenfelter and Vernon C. Snyder.

She was a member of the Coolspring United Methodist Church.

Dolly was a much-loved mother and grandmother and is missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Lingenfelter and wife Karen of

Carol "Gagy" L. Dale, 85

Carol "Gagy" L. Dale, 85, of Elgin, S.C., died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Palmetto Heath Baptist Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1926, in DuBois, a daughter of the late Harold and Louise (English) Roper.

She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church.

Erma M. Astorino, 78

June 13, 2013

Erma M. Astorino, 78, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late John and Edith (Oaks) Woods.

On Feb. 8, 1956, she married John Anthony Astorino. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2001.

She was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Walston.

She was also a former member of the Rosary Altar Society.

Erma enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting and the daily activities at the Punxsy Senior Center.

Velma L. Cressley, 94

June 13, 2013

Velma L. Cressley, 94, of Juneau, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Cressley was born Nov. 13, 1918, in Juneau, a daughter of the late Merle White and Nora (Baun) White.

She was married to Ralph E. Cressley, who preceded her in death Jan. 21, 2004.

Velma was a member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church in Juneau.

She was employed by Rola-Jensen and Loree Footwear before retirement.

She was a special and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor who loved the Lord.

‘The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed’

A community effort: Used book sale approaching, donations being accepted
