BROOKVILLE — The Chucks' early hitting frenzy built a large enough lead to hold off the surging Raiders in a 14-7 win Monday at McKinley Field in Brook-ville.
"We hit the ball really well today early on. Our approaches late weren't as aggressive as I'd like them to be; I think that's why we cooled down a little bit. A lot of the credit goes to the guys swinging the bats early and getting us a big lead," said Mike Dickey, Chucks coach.
Mackenzie Rosenberger, 15, a student at Punxsutawney Area High School, has been chosen to perform in the national organization known as The Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus.
This summer, she will travel and perform in the 2013 European Concert
Tour, which includes stops in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France and Luxembourg.
The cost of the trip is $6,200, and that does not include the uniform, passport and currency packs.
Rosenberger is doing her best to raise the money by having bake sales, and she hopes to have a car wash, too.

Terry Allen Graul, 62, of Allentown, died Friday, April 19, 2013, in Pocono Medical Center, Monroe County.
He was the husband of Dorrie V. (Voorhis) Graul. They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2012.
Born in Punxsutawney, he was the son of the late Earl Henery and Evelyn Mae (Bennett) Graul.
He was a 1968 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.
For the last 13 years, Terry had been a truck driver for CPC Logistics in Allentown.
A member of Trout Unlimited, Terry was an avid fly fisherman. He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing for trout.
Cyrilla C. Himes, 78, of Youngstown, Ohio, formerly of Covode, Pa., passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown.
Cyrilla was born on Feb. 23, 1935, in Covode, the daughter of Ralph and Catherine (Beck) Jordan. She married Earl Himes on May 21, 1955. He survives.
Cyrilla was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School. She worked at
Nelson Bedding in Youngstown, Ohio, for many years.

On Saturday night in the Punxsutawney Area High School cafeteria, the 12th class of the Punxsutawney Sports Hall of Fame was inducted.

Anna Wilma Sharp, 85, of Glen Campbell, died Saturday, April 20, 2013.
She was born June 29, 1927, in Curwensville, a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Twila (Haag) Condon.
On April 7, 1945, she married John Albert Sharp.
He preceded her in death on March 26, 2008.
She enjoyed raising her 12 children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She liked traveling, spending time on the pontoon boat and being with her family and her dog, Pippy.
Cindy Joan Mills, R.N., 40, of Westernville, N.Y., wife of William J., passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, N.Y., after a brief illness.
She was born in Newton, N.J., on Feb. 5, 1973, a daughter of Austin A. and Judith Karin Erickson Young.
Cindy grew up in Blairstown, N.J., graduating from Warren Hills Regional High School.
Thereafter, she furthered her education at Raritan Valley Community College, eventually earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing.
A legend is lost. Anna Mary "Punxsy" Edmondson, 88, of Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at her home.
Anna Mary was born April 17, 1925, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of Thomas F. Edmondson and Anna (Rozdilsky) Edmondson.
She was a member of SS. Cosmas & Damian Catholic Church.
In her young adult life, Anna Mary was employed by the Bryant Electric Company, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company, in Bridgeport, Conn., where she assembled gyros for torpedos that sunk two battleships
and a cruiser.
She ended her career at Bryant as the Boiler Room Manager.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Following its March 14 concert featuring the Side Street Strutters, the Punxsutawney Concert Association has begun its subscription campaign to enlist support for the 2013-2014 season.
The new season of performances by visiting musicians and entertainers will continue a tradition of live concerts begun in the late 1930s in the area.
The anticipated 2013-2014 season will introduce area subscription members, patrons and benefactors to three shows of new talent and uniqueness.
The season will begin in September 2013 with The Gothard Sisters.
