Barbara Ruth Harris, 55, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born Oct. 25, 1957, in Fall River, Mass., a daughter of Glenn Miller and wife Harriet of Seminole, Fla., and the late Sydell (Levine) Miller.
Mrs. Harris was the former president of the Sisterhood of Temple B' Nai Israel in Olean, N.Y.
Her hobbies were Bingo, which she loved, and listening to her son play piano.
As a child, she and her sister sang songs while doing the dishes.
Barbara adored her grandchildren and loved being around them.
Leland B. Plotner, 18 months, went to be with the angels on Wednesday,Jan. 23, 2013, at Childrenâ€™s Hospital in Pittsburgh, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 31, 2011, in Pittsburgh.
Leland is survived by his mother, Brittany N. Plotner of Punxsutawney; his
grandparents, Brian and Christine Plotner, and his great-grandpa, Cecil Plotner, all of Punxsutawney; his great-great-grandma, Jean Plotner of Knox Dale; aunts and uncles Denise Himes, Joe Bennett and wife Dorothy, and Scott and Holly Howard, all of Punxsutawney; and numerous cousins.
BELLEFONTE â€” After only having five bouts on the year through last Friday, Punxsy doubled its wrestling match total in a single day.
Last Saturday, the Chucks took part in the Bellefonte Red Raider Rumble.
Punxsy claimed two wins in five team matches as it defeated Crestwood (39-32) and State College (38-34).
In the other action of the all-day event, Punxsy dropped decisions to Hazleton (51-22), Downingtown (45-27) and Exeter (49-15).
The Punxsy 6th-grade boys' basketball tournament team posted three wins in four games during last weekend's two-day event hosted by the Punxsutawney Community Center.

CLARION â€” After recording its first win of the season, the Punxsy junior high wrestling team could not make it two in a row on Tuesday night.
In a match of seven scoring bouts and nine forfeits, the junior Chucks garnered only two victories to drop their meeting with the Bobcats of Clarion, 49-33.
Alex Young (165) and Levi Campbell (145) picked up the pair of visiting wins. Young pinned his opponent, while Campbell won by decision.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” The words "the carnival is in town" will likely not be heard for the first time in many years in Punxsutawney the week before the Fourth of July, as the Punxsutawney Fire Department has announced it is unable to contract a company for this year.
"It's with a heavy heart that I announce that there will be no carnival in Punxsutawney this year," said Tami McFarland, president of the Punxsutawney Fire Department Old Home Week Committee.
She said that, due to the ever-worsening economy and increasing fuel charges, J&J Amusements can no longer afford to travel to Punxsy.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Our very own Punxsy Phil has always been considered to be royalty as the "World's Only True Weather Prognosticating Groundhog."
Now, he has an entrance to his Groundhog Day home that is fit for a king.
The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Inner Circle unveiled the new grand "Arch" during a ribbon cutting ceremony held Wednesday at Gobbler's Knob.
"This is a project that I thought would never get done," said Bill Deeley, Groundhog Club president.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Punxsutawney school teachers have ratified the proposed contract with the school board within the last week, according to unofficial reports.
The Punxsutawney Area School Board received word from the Punxsutawney Area Education Association (PAEA) that the proposed contract has been approved, said Gary Conrad, Punxsutawney Area School Board president, following Wednesday's school board committee meeting.
CLARION â€” On an extremely cold night outside the gymnasium, the wrestling action inside proved to have a quick turnover down the weight classes.
In a meeting of two squads with low numbers, Punxsy dominated host Clarion, 54-18, by claiming five victories in six wrestled matches in the small card affair.
â€śThe guys on the mat tonight looked great,â€ť noted Chucks head coach Eric Eddy. â€śClarion has some holes in their lineup, but I thought we wrestled really good.â€ť
Freshmen Eli Lambiotte (106) and Kaleb Young (126) pinned their opponents to highlight the Chucksâ€™ individual victories.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Following two close defeats, the Punxsy seventh-grade boys' hoops squad found the win column Monday afternoon against Brookville.
The Chucks held a comfortable 28-9 advantage after three periods before taking away the 34-25 final over the Raiders.
