Mary May Emberg, 77, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Mackeyville, Pa., a daughter of the late Orvis and Bertha (Nihart) Barner.
In 1964, she married Donald Emberg. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1974.
She previously worked at Invensys in DuBois.
Mary loved her family, being outside gardening, and she also had a tender heart for animals.
She had a friendly, warm spirit and made friends everywhere.
Rose Marie Goyette, 75, of Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Miss Goyette was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Caloger) Goyette.
Rose was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Catholic Church.
She was employed by Lorree Footwear before retirement. She was a member of the Green Thumb Program at the Punxsutawney Library.
She is survived by her brother, Nicholas A. Goyette of Medina, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
The Jeff Tech Joint Operating Committee (JOC) held its reorganization meeting on Thursday.
The committee is made up of representatives from the four sending districts of Punxsutawney, Brookville, DuBois and Brockway. Shelly Caine, Brockway, was elected chairperson, while Francis J. Molinaro of Punxsy was elected vice chair.

PUNXSUTAWNEYâ€” Clint Reed is a recognizable face. You may recognize him as the maintenance supervisor at the AGAPE student housing building, or perhaps you have witnessed his musical talents on display at either Music in the Park or the most recent Tunes for Tots event.
Mary Lou â€śMillieâ€ť Bonadio, 86, of Somerset, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at her home.
She was born Jan. 14, 1927, in New Martinsville, W.V., a daughter of the late Clarence Lee and Maude Evelyn (Smith) Prichard.
Millie was a 1945 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.
Until her retirement, she was co-owner/operator of Pennsylvania Propane, along with her husband, the late Francis Anthony â€śTonyâ€ť Bonadio, who preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 2009.
She was a member of St. Peterâ€™s Catholic Church and the Homemakers Club.
Sara Abram, 78, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Mulberry Square Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Ms. Abram was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Brockway, the only daughter of the late James R. and Vaughn R. (Robinson) Marshall.
Sara was a long-time resident at Lane Avenue Care Home.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney, where a service will be held at noon with Joeseph Buterbaugh officiating.
Private interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Brockway.
Mary Margaret Paris, 58, of Reynoldsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born May 20, 1955, a daughter of the late Raymond Edwin Long Sr. and Irene Catherine (Felisky) Long.
Mary was the wife of James C. Paris, and they had 29 great years together.
She enjoyed flower gardening and working around her home.
Mary worked as a housekeeper, in which she took much pride.
Through her care and dedication to her work, many of her customers also became her friends.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” A new member of the Punxsutawney Area School Board said at Tuesday's meeting that the board needs to look at some improvements to be made to Jack LaMarca Stadium.
Dr. Frank Bizousky, board member, said that everything at the site dates back to the 1960s.
"I think this is kind of an embarrassment; there are many people who accompany the visiting team to our games and see the condition it is in," Bizousky said, adding that he's hearing about fund balances and capital improvement funds and asked if some of that money should be invested in the stadium.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Since many people will be putting up their Christmas trees this week, itâ€™s time to start thinking about ornaments.
