Punxsy Appreciation Day set for Sept. 28

Punxsy Appreciation Day is returning to Barclay Square this year on Saturday, Sept. 28, and will be sponsored by PRIDE, the Punxsutawney Eagles No. 1231 and the Punxsutawney Area Chamber of Commerce.

No flood relief money coming from FEMA

Jefferson County will not be receiving money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for flood relief in the wake of the rainstorms of late June, the Jefferson County commissioners announced at their regular meeting on Tuesday.

James C. Young, 92

August 27, 2013

James C. Young, 92, formerly of New Bethlehem and North Freedom, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at the Brookville Hospital.

He was born on May 3, 1921, in Mayport, the son of Charles and Lucy (Hetrick) Young.

He was first married to Ruby (Brocious), and she preceded him in death in 1985. He then married Evelyn (Schreckengost) Snyder, and she preceded him in death in 2010.

During his lifetime, Jim was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Freedom and Leasure Run.
