BIG RUN — Vandals hit the old Big Run Elementary School building along Route 119, smashing a window, scrawling graffiti in chalk and stealing a knife, according to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police, who are investigating the burglary.
Sometime between Aug. 3 and Aug. 8, unknown suspected juvenile actor(s) arrived at the building — which a 22-year-old Punxsutawney man is using for storage — and smashed out the basement window with a 3-foot metal pipe.
The SS.C.D. Catholic Daughters of America (CD of A) presented a check to Jessica Dinger, SS.C.D. School principal, (third from the left) with a donation of $1,500 that was raised at the CD of A annual yard sale earlier this summer.
Pictured are (from left) Pat Rougeux and Marian Klotz, CD of A members; Dinger, Elaine Scuello, yard sale chair; Dorothy Vilkinofsky, CD of A member; and Bernadette Horner, CD of A treasurer.
