Seth Easton Gilbert, 12

July 7, 2013

Seth Easton Gilbert, 12, of Reynoldsville, went home with the angels on Saturday, July 6, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

Seth was born Jan. 21, 2001, in DuBois, the son of Theodore J. and Cherie J. (Trude) Gilbert, who survive, of Reynoldsville.

Seth loved to swim and play with his sisters, Brittany, Lexie and Isabel.

In addition to his parents, Ted and Cherie, he is survived by his sisters, Brittany and Isabel Gilbert and Lexie Trude, all of Reynoldsville; his maternal and paternal grandparents and great-grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kevin D. Hudock, 60

July 7, 2013

Kevin D. Hudock, 60, of Oil City, Pa., died Thursday, July 3, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born on June 17, 1953, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Andrew and Shirley Whitesell Hudock.

Kevin was a 1971 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and received a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 1975.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a certified Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineer for Dowell-Schlumberger.

Margaret E. Timblin, 89

July 7, 2013

Margaret E. Timblin, 89, of Rossiter, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Mrs. Timblin was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Sagamore. She was the daughter of the late Scott W. and Maude (Brady) Hill.

Margaret attended the First Baptist Church.

She worked for the Company Store in Sagamore, Troutman’s in Indiana and
the Adrian Hospital before retirement.

She spent her winters in Arizona and loved camping, fishing, boating, bike riding, cooking and baking.

Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Thanks for another great Groundhog Festival

The annual Groundhog Festival concluded with quite the finale Saturday night, as Rick Larrimore entertained the crowd at Barclay Square with his tribute to Rod Stewart.

Larrimore’s performance was co-sponsored by the Walston Club.

Police seeking info on Canoe Twp. shed fire

CANOE TOWNSHIP — Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police are seeking information on a small fire that occurred between July 3 and July 5.

The PA State Police Fire Marshal investigated the origin and cause of the fire and determined that an incendiary device was thrown at the shed in order to ignite the fire, which burned out before causing significant damage.

Police said there were no known injuries in the fire, which occurred along Johnsonburg Road in Canoe Township, Indiana County.

Damage is estimated at $500, and the victim is a Punxsutawney man.

Jefferson County has a new Dairy Princess

BROOKVILLE — The Jefferson County Dairy Promotion Committee is pleased to announce that Toni Smith of Reynoldsville has been selected to
represent Jefferson County as the 2013-2014 Jefferson County Dairy Princess.

Toni was officially recognized at the Jefferson County Holstein Club’s Twilight Meeting held at Laurel Valley Dairy (Toni’s parents’ farm.)

Stefany Alexander, dairy ambassador, did the honors of placing Toni’s crown and sash.

Toni is the daughter of Brad Smith and Kelly Holt of Reynoldsville.

She has been an active 4-H member for 10 years.

Smiling big and bound for States!

On Friday, the Punxsy 11- and 12-year-old softball All-Stars completed a three-game sweep of the Section I Tournament to earn a berth to States, which are set to begin on Wednesday in Stroudsburg.

It was the original intention to initiate this great industry with music and speechmaking and a banquet.

The road continues to be kind to JLSB All-Stars

In this file photo from last Tuesday, Punxsy's Jordyn Powell takes a cut at a pitch in a game against Brookville. Powell had what Punxsy coach Ange Giavedoni called a "huge single" in Punxsy's 12-1 victory over Brookville Sunday in Brookville. With the win, Punxsy gets to take its show on the road again on Tuesday to St. Marys.
