A banner weekend for Major SB All-Stars

June 30, 2013

Punxsy's 11- and 12-year-old softball All-Stars "raised the banner," so to speak, as is the common tradition after earning a district title.

Behind a four-run fifth inning, the Punxsy squad sneaked past St. Marys 9-8 to earn the title and a trip to Sectionals.

For more on the game, see Monday's edition of The Spirit.

Ishman fires no-hitter to help Punxsy Major Baseball All-Stars bounce back, 9-0

June 28, 2013

MT. JEWETT — After suffering through one of the most difficult nights any team could endure, the Punxsy Major Baseball All-Star's Dylan Ishman had the perfect elixir.

Ishman fired a no-hitter to lead Punxsy to a shutout victory, 9-0, over host Smethport/Mt. Jewett in the losers' bracket quarterfinals in Mt. Jewett Friday evening.

Punxsy started slowly, but Ishman was a constant the whole contest.

After a visiting scoreless top of the first, Ishman walked the second Smethport/Mt. Jewett hitter, who would turn out to be the lone base runner against him.
