Sometimes you can find support in the unlikeliest places and for one
courageous woman battling cancer, she found it at McDonald's. Marsha Elkin is currently in remission from a third battle with cancer. While stopping in at McDonaldâs, she met up with a group of people who soon became not only friends but also a wonderful support group. Those friends are hosting a spaghetti benefit dinner from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the McCalmont Township Fire Hall in Anita. Pictured are Bob Black, Carol Gaston, Randy Redding and Elkin. Daniel J. Miller, 19, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at home.
Daniel was born May 9, 1994, in Spartansburg, Pa., a son of John J. and Susan Miller.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, John J. Miller Jr. and wife Mary Ann, and Mervin Miller; four sisters, Barbara Shetler and husband Freman, Susie Miller and husband John and Rebecca and Mary Ann Miller, all of Punxsutawney; his paternal grandfather, John W. Miller of Punxsutawney; and his maternal grandmother, Alma B. Miller of Knox.
Kenneth S. Filler, 80, of Akron, Ohio, passed away June 18, 2013.
Ken was born on July 1, 1932, in Rossiter, Pa., to the late Ira and Bertha Filler.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was
employed for 22 years at Alside and for 6 years at Drosbach. He served as a custodian for 24 years at Tallmadge Local Schools and for 15 years at Church of the Master.
He was a longtime member of Tallmadge Wesleyan Methodist Church. Over
Marie E. Bennett, 80, of Clarion, formerly of Big Run, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at County Spring Personal Care Home, surrounded by her loving family and care givers.
Marie was born October 26, 1932, in New Millport, Clearfield County, a daughter of the late James M. and Sylvia Hullihen.
She was Protestant by faith.
On Jan. 22, 1948, she married the love of her life James F. Bennett, who preceded her in death Aug. 26, 2008.
