PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” If you want to think warm thoughts that will propel us into summer-like weather, than why not think of the Punxsutawney Relay For Life event, which will be held on Saturday, July 13, in Barclay Square.
Plans and preparations for this yearâ€™s event are already well underway.
"We need people to recruit new teams for the Relay," said Jennifer Heinze, co-chair with Robyn Shaffer for the Punxsy Relay again this year.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsutawney Concert Association will conclude its 2012-2013 concert season in Punxsutawney on Thursday evening, March 14, at the Punxsutawney Area High School with the concert by The Side Street Strutters.

Jeanie Smith, age 9, of Punxsutawney donated 12 inches of her hair to "Wigs for Kids" on March 1, marking the fourth time she has done so.
She previously donated her hair for the same cause on April 16, 2011;
March 6, 2009; and May 15, 2007.
Jeanie is currently in fourth grade at Punxsutawney Area Middle School.
Jeanie believes that, even though she is only a child, she can help other children who need hair by donating her own.
All four times, Alicia Burkett, current owner of Alicia's Hair Cottage, cut Jeanie Smith's hair.
Betty June Baughman, 90, of Summerville, Pa., passed away at the Brookville Hospital on Friday, March 8, 2013.
She was born on July 26, 1922, in New Bethlehem, a daughter of the late Glenn Sr. and Dora (Hockenberry) Hess of New Bethlehem, Pa.
Betty was an honors graduate of New Bethlehem High School, Class of 1940.
In her teen years, she was a drummer for the "Tune Twisters" who played throughout the New Bethlehem area.
She served as Inspector of Elections on the Beaver Township Election Board for many years.
Raymond E. Long, Sr., 85, of Anita, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2013.
He was born on June 19, 1927, in Anita, a son of the late Edwin Russell and Josephine Bernadine (Nelson) Long.
Mr. Long served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946, in Sanford, Fla.
On Jan. 24, 1947, he married Irene Felisky, who preceded him in death on July 2, 1978.
He then married Nancy Males on January 25, 1980; she also preceded him in death on April 8, 1991.
Mr. Long was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Punxsutawney.
Doris B. Hunger, 82, of Punxsutawney, passed peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
She was born July 25, 1930 in Summerville, Pa., the daughter of the late Donald and Sarah (Wayland) Burns.
She was married to John B. Hunger, Jr., who preceded her in death on July 20, 2002.
She and her husband owned and operated Hunger's Office Supply in Punxsutawney and the Hunger's Hallmark at the Groundhog Plaza.
Peter T. Pascuzzo, 53, of Punxsutawney, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 8, 2013, at home.
He was born June 19, 1959, in Punxsutawney, a son of Peter P. and the late Mary Lou (Treharne) Pascuzzo.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the strip mining and reclamation industries.
Pete's favorite pastime was hanging out with his friends at the Walston Club.
While their varsity counterparts are competing at the state championships, Punxsy's next wrestling generation prepares for the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Area V Tournament. The 13 Chucks qualifying for the PJW Area V will test their mettle on March 16 at Clarion University.
