Wilbur Bair, 85, of Rossiter, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

CLARION â€” The night session and the opening edition of the District IX/IV AAA wrestling championships started Friday, and the foes of the Chucks started to fall one after another.
Punxsy posted a strong first night of action in the district championships held at Clarion Universityâ€™s Tippin Gym.
The Chucks claimed three falls in their opening three bouts and two major decisions in the next two before adding a fourth pin to begin 6-0.
Punxsy finished the preliminary and round I consolations at 7-6 and had only one wrestler not alive for the second day.
The staff of the Punxsutawney Spirit/Jefferson County Neighbors recently completed a community profile and membership directory for the Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Copies were turned over to the chamber on Thursday, along with a donation of $1,000 of the proceeds from their production.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” If you're interested in school safety, then you'll want to attend a community forum dealing with that topic to be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Punxsutawney Area High School Auditorium.
The meeting is a combined effort between the Punxsutawney Area School Board and Punxsutawney Borough Council.
"Following the tragedy that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, we received numerous phone calls from concerned citizens and parents regarding the district's safety plan," said Dr. Keith Wolfe, Punxsutawney Area School District superintendent.

At Thursday night's Rails to Trails meeting, a $2,000 donation was made by Denny Fetterman, secretary of the Eagles, to the members of the Rails to Trails Association.
This donation is the kick-off for the Capital Campaign Fund Drive for trail maintenance. ST. MARYS â€” The real Punxsy Lady Chucks basketball team showed for the final five minutes of action on Thursday night.
The arrival of the Punxsy squad, which helped claim 13 wins heading into the District IX semifinal turned out to be just in the nick of time.
Trailing the entire first 27 minutes, the Lady Chucks went on an 11-3 run to take the lead and held on for an eventual 50-47 victory over the host Lady Dutch of St. Marys.
Punxsy's Josh Shuckers grapples with DuBois' Dylan Zimmerman last Thursday night in DuBois. Shuckers claimed a 4-0 shutout, and the two will have a rematch tonight in the 132-pound weight class as part of the preliminary round of bouts at the District IX/IV AAA championship. The Chucks' Joel Bowers (120) is the lone top-seed for the squad, while both Kaleb Young (126) and Perry Arrington (138) are rated second in their weight classes, respectively. For the first time, District IX will combine with District IV for AAA into one district individual championship.
CLARION â€” The seventh-seeded Lady Raiders kept the dream of the D-IX AA title alive with a hard-fought 50-49 win over the third-seeded Lady Berries in the district playoff semifinals Thursday night at the Tippin Gym at Clarion University.
"It was 32 minutes of the hardest basketball those kids can play. When things started going south late in the game they didn't get rattled they kept their composure and we hit some big free throws late. We did enough to win," said Mark Powell, Lady Raiders varsity coach.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” A joint meeting of the Punxsutawney Area School Board's Building and Maintenance and Athletic committees was held Tuesday, and expansion of the weight room at Punxsutawney Area High School into what has been a maintenance garage was discussed.
Jim Baun, chair of Building and Maintenance, said that the Punxsutawney Booster Club was willing to pay to expand and upgrade the present weight room facility. Bill Vasallo, PAHS athletic director, said his understanding was that the Booster Club was willing to donate the funds to pay for the weight room upgrade.
