Virginia June Wells, 78, of Hilliard, Fla., formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, in Hilliard.
Mrs. Wells was born July 31, 1935, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Raymond Sidney Manners and Violet (Burkett) Pyles.
She was married to James Dale Wells of Hilliard. He survives.
She was a member of the Gateway to Life Church of Hilliard.
Members of the Punxsutawney Fire Department responded to a scanner call for a working structure fire along Cloe-Rossiter Road shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday night.
No flames were showing when crews first arrived.

Make-a-Wish continued the Light Up A Child's Life Campaign with two stops Thursday morning â€” the first at the Punxsutawney Area Middle School and the second at the high school.
The radio-thon's broadcast on 104.1 WPXZ was held at the high school from 8 to 9 a.m., with check presentations from the Future Health Services Club, Student Government, faculty and staff members, Juart Brothers Excavating on behalf of the Key Club, band parents and students.
BELL TOWNSHIP â€” Cheri Rowles is a familiar face. You may recognize her as the secretary/treasurer of Bell Township
borough. Or perhaps, you have seen her throughout the community.
Born and raised in Beaver Falls, Pa., Rowles is a graduate of Beaver Falls High School.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” It is the season of giving and of helping others. As we look back on the history of our town, we are reminded not only of those who helped our community, but also of those who fought for our country.
This holiday season, the Punxsutawney Area Historical & Genealogical Society is providing an exhibit that showcases both military service and public service.
The exhibit will run until after Groundhog Day 2014.
Hours of operation are Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Friday and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.
