The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center recently held a special ceremony to unveil a plaque in honor and memory of former Punxsutawney mayor, the late John Hallman, whose handprints were all over the planning and coming about of the center as it was.
Members of the centerâ€™s Board of Directors and Hallmanâ€™s family members were on hand, as well.

Alice Ruth Haney, 92, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Elizabeth Scott Community.
She was born on June 21, 1921, in Punxsutawney, to George and Alice (Huff) Bowersox.
Ruth was the past Madam President of the Maumee Eagles Auxiliary Lodge
2562, a member of the Maumee American Legion Post 320, a member of the Punxsutawney Elks Lodge 301 and a member of the Red Hat Society.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Giving 41 years of one's life to anything these days stands out as a great achievement, and one local man â€” Punxsutawney's own Master Sgt. Bill Foster â€” recently retired after dedicating just more than 41 years of service to the military and the local community through his involvement in the Army and the Pennsylvania National Guard.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Colleen Schott is a recognizable face. You may recognize her as a kindhearted volunteer who has rung the bell for the Salvation Army.
Though she may not work right in town, she certainly makes an impact on the lives of those who need guidance.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” There's soon to be a new mayor in town, as Republican Richard Alexander was elected mayor in Tuesday's general election.
Mayor-elect Alexander said in an interview that running for mayor has been a good experience for him.

Eugene Smith, 77, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013.
He was born on Christmas Day, 1935, a son of Clarence and Marion Patrick Smith of Punxsutawney.
Eugene was a 20-year U.S. Army veteran, a life member of the V.F.W., and he was retired from TVA at Sequoya.
He was first married to Joyce Davis, of Soddy-Daisy, the mother of their children.
He later married Eulene Mayberry, also of Soddy-Daisy.
He is survived by his wife, Eulene M. Smith, two children and two

PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Following what was a more-than-year-long investigation, the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department reported the arrests of numerous individuals who were allegedly involved in a series of burglaries that occurred in Punxsutawney Borough between May 2012 and April 2013.
The five who were arrested and charged were:
â€˘ Jason Robert Brownlee, 32, Punxsutawney;
â€˘ Ryan J. Brownlee, 26, Punxsutawney;
â€˘ Samantha Lynn Cochran, 18, Punxsutawney;
â€˘ Grayce E. Sutter, 20, Stump Creek;
â€˘ Mindy Murvine, 19, Nanty Glo.
Kenneth Lee Anderson, Sr., 62, of Norfolk, Va., formerly of Punxsutawney, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, in Norfolk, Va.
He was born Jan. 17, 1951, in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late William and Lucille (Depp) Anderson.
He was an automobile mechanic and worked for many years at Midas Muffler in Norfolk, Va.
