The residents and staff of Mulberry Square took time out to honor the veterans who reside there on Veterans' Day with an address by State Rep. Sam Smith.

BIG RUN â€” It was a day to honor not only the veterans in our military who served in countless wars, but also those who are currently fighting in the current one.
Veterans and their family members gathered at the Big Run War Memorial on Monday evening to honor their service to our country and to also honor those who have fallen.
VFW Post No. 9044 hosted the event that brought together members of the community, local Boy Scouts and families who currently have a loved one in the military.
The Rev. J. Paul Kennedy, 90, of York, Pa., died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at the York Lutheran Home in the Village at Sprenkle Drive.
He was the husband of the late Elsie J. (Bullers) Kennedy, whom he married on June 30, 1945.
Born Oct. 9, 1923, in North Point, Indiana County, he was a son of the late John C. and Ruth (Elkin) Kennedy.
He was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School and DuBois Business
He then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Doris Jean Stellabuto passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013.
She was the beloved wife of Richard Stellabuto; devoted mother of Scott, Anthony and Richard Stellabuto and the late Michael Shaffer; and the loving grandmother of Christopher, Richard, Taylor and Jordan Stellabuto and Micah and Dana Shaffer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Elizabeth Polohonki; her sister, Marlene Smith; and her brothers, Al and Mike Polohonki.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” The residents of a house on Pine Street in Punxsutawney barely escaped with their lives when their house was completely destroyed by a quickly spreading structure fire at 7:28 a.m. on Saturday.
Bryan Smith, Punxsutawney Fire Department chief, said when firefighters from Central, Lindsey and Elk Run arrived on scene at the home owned by Kimberly L. Stormer, 41, at 331 Pine St., it was fully involved with flames and heavy smoke showing.

The Waverly Hotel
The Waverly Hotel is being remodeled and enlarged, and when these improvements are completed will be of the most commodious hotels in town.
Saturday, Community Action, Inc., held a kickoff event for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign at Femco Machine, the location of the gingerbread house.
As the official drop-off site, the gingerbread house was visited by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, who gave treats to visiting children.
Hot dogs, cookies, cocoa and coffee was available to those who stopped by.
Rev. Thoburn R. R. â€śPreachâ€ť Stull, 95, of Dayton, Pa., passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.
He was born Aug. 31, 1918, in Leechburg, Pa., the son of Edward Stull and Mary (Barnett) Stull.
Over the years, Rev. Stull served as Pastor of Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church of Wayne Township, Armstrong County, Pa., from 1943 to 1971; the Bailey Avenue Presbyterian Church of Mt. Washington,
Pittsburgh, Pa., from 1971 to 1978; Cape May Presbyterian Church in New Jersey from 1979 to 1987; and he continued to be the Kiskiminetas Presbytery supply Pastor from 1987 through 2010.
