Bridget Nicholson Sparks, 48, died on Oct. 16, 2013, at Bay Area Medical Center, Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1964, in DuBois, a daughter of Polly Hatten Clapsaddle.

She attended DuBois Area High School. She followed the sun, moving to Florida and then to Texas, where she married her husband Douglas Sparks on Feb. 26, 1993. She loved the beach, the sand, the sun and fishing.

Sheriff’s sale of Pantall Hotel pushed to early next year

BROOKVILLE — The sheriff's sale scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Jefferson County Sheriff's office for the Pantall Hotel in Punxsutawney has been postponed again.

Tracy Anderson, real estate deputy, said the mortgage company has once again postponed the sale — this time pushing it to 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, at the sheriff's office.

The original sale date was scheduled to be Sept. 6.

Jefferson County Sheriff Carl Gotwald, Sr., said back in August that the total amount due, including back taxes, was $839,550.13.

Preschool Picassos painting pictures for projector

PUNXSUTAWNEY — You're never too young to show off your artistic abilities, and for the preschoolers at Creative Garden, LLC., they are doing it for a good cause.

All 30 students have been busy creating works of art, which will be auctioned off on Saturday, Nov. 16, in the gym at the Punxsutawney Area Community Center.

Mayor uses veto power to snuff out no-smoking ordinance

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Punxsutawney Borough Mayor Jim Wehrle vetoed the proposed ordinance that would’ve prohibited the use of any and all tobacco products in certain areas that are owned or operated by the borough at Tuesday’s council meeting.
