Gwendolyn A. Black, 88

October 22, 2013

Gwendolyn A. Black, 88, of Brookville, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Clarion Hospital.

Mrs. Black was born Feb. 19, 1925, in New Castle, a daughter of the late George Welsheimer and Nellie (Woodward) Welsheimer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M. Black.

She was a member of the First Church of God in Brookville.

Mrs. Black loved her Bible, sewing, crocheting and reading.

Patricia Jane (Bartlebaugh) Troutman, 67

Patricia Jane (Bartlebaugh) Troutman 67, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney.

She was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Spangler, Pa., the daughter of the late Lonnie and Kathryn (Westover) Bartlebaugh.

She was married to Robert Lee Troutman, who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1996.

She was a nurse's aide.

She was a Wesleyan Methodist by faith.

RoseMarie Marasco, 78

RoseMarie Marasco, 78, Santa Barbara, Calif., died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013.

She was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Walston, a daughter of the late Rosario and Josephine Marasco.

RoseMarie was raised in Punxsutawney. She was a graduate of St. Vincent
School of Nursing in Erie, Pa.

She lived in Santa Barbara, Calif., since 1970 and worked as a nurse in several hospitals.

An avid cook of Italian cuisine, RoseMarie wrote and published a cookbook, "Di Tutto Cuore," a collection of recipes of family and friends.

Patricia R. Michele, 71

Patricia R. Michele, 71, Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 25, 1942, in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Abbate) Rumfola.

In 1980, she married John G. Michele. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2007.

Patricia retired as a school teacher in Annapolis, Md., after many years of service.

She was one of the founding members of the Theatre Arts Guild and the Young Women’s Club, both in Punxsutawney.

She enjoyed the Ladies of the Lake and her book and quilting clubs.

Monika Young, 67

October 22, 2013

Monika Young, 67, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at home.

She was born May 17, 1946, in Aidenbach, Germany, a daughter of the late George C. Sparks and Helene (Tschache) Sparks, who survives.

On Oct. 1, 1963, she married Denny Young. He preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2013.

Monika was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles Auxiliary, having served as Past Madame President.

Schall finds her calling in Christian coaching, founds 3 Strands

PUNXSUTAWNEY — It takes courage to follow the path that God is leading you down, especially when that path leads to something you have never tried before.

Though often plagued with fears of failure, one must keep on forging ahead, and for local woman Barb Schall, that is exactly what she has done.

Free Methodist Meeting
Twelve men and twelve women from the Greensburg district, who had been in attendance at the Free Methodist conference in Ridgway, were in town on Monday on their way home. Having a couple of hours to wait before securing transportation to Indiana, they resolved to utilize the time in holding a meeting.

Cynthia E. Heschke, 52

Cynthia E. Heschke, 52, of Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Cynthia was born March 2, 1961, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of Velma (Himes) Smouse, who survives, of Soldier.

She was married to Richard H. Heschke, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Cynthia worked many years for the Head Start Program as a teacher’s aide.

She was a member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church and also attended the Punxsutawney Church of the Nazerene.

She loved traveling, swimming, scuba diving, boating, Zumba and children.
