Emory Elkin, 86, of Smicksburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Forbes Regional Hospital.
He was born on March 11, 1926, in Loop, Pa., the son of Duff and Nellie (Marshall) Elkin.
Emory graduated from Dayton High School and was a member of Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church.
He worked at Dow Chemical Company as a supervisor for 20 years and then at Little Mahoning Pipeline as a supervisor for 20 years before his retirement in 1991.

NEW BETHLEHEM â After suffering a disappointing Saturday night loss, Punxsy turned a potential letdown situation into feeding off the defeat instead.
The Chucks doubled up and took a bite out of the Bulldogs of Redbank Valley, 60-31, on Tuesday night in New Bethlehem.
Brandon Mancuso pumped in three triples and recorded a game-best 15 points. Devin Nicholson joined Mancuso in double figures with 12 points, including a pair of treys.
Forward Garrett Zimmerman missed a double-double by a single point, as he finished the night with nine points and 10 rebounds.
PUNXSUTAWNEY Ââ Resilient and tough proved to be the mix Tuesday night for the Punxsy girlsâ basketball team. The Lady Chucks were both but the talented Lady Panthers of Keystone had just enough to fend off the pesky home team, 55-47, in Punxsutawney.
âIf we could have had a jumper fall there a couple times, then we could have had a chance,â commented Punxsy coach Randy Reitz. âPlaying a very good basketball team like Keystone will make us a better basketball team.â
BROOKVILLE â The Jefferson County Commissioners reviewed and approved the 2013 county budget at their meeting on Tuesday.
The newly passed budget includes a tax increase.
The budget had been placed on display at the county offices for 21 days prior to the vote.
The tax increase clocks in at one quarter of a mill, which determines tax amounts based on property values.
By way of example, a property valued at $50,000 will now be party to a tax increase of $12.50 for the upcoming year.

The second day of the Make-A-Wish Light Up a Child's Life campaign was highly successful Tuesday, as the two-day total raised now sits at $10,155.43.

Today, the Make-A-Wish crew will broadcast live from 7 to 9 a.m. at Caterina's at its new location in the ATA Transit Center; from the Pantall Hotel from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and from Mulberry Square from 3 to 4 p.m.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Punxsutawney Borough Solicitor Jay Lundy informed Punxsutawney Borough Council at its Monday meeting that he is still waiting for the paperwork to be completed by the landowners regarding the alley located between the former Punxsy Hotel property and McDonald's.
"The easements have been cleared regarding the property owners, and all of the paperwork is out to them (the Neals) and McDonald's," said Lundy, adding that there are three easements involved in vacating the alley.
Lundy said he hoped that he can have everything completed regarding the petition for the Jan. 14

PUNXSUTAWNEY â The GPS units that were purchased by Punxsutawney Borough Council have finally arrived and are ready to be installed in all four Punxsutawney Borough Police vehicles.
"Last week, Larry (Chenoga), Punxsutawney Borough Council president, and I completed the agreement with Wireless Matrix," said Tom Fedigan, Punxsutawney Borough Police chief at Monday's council meeting.
Fedigan said all that's left is to set up a time to have the GPS units installed in the four police vehicles.

The Make-A-Wish "Light Up a Child's Life" campaign got underway Monday in Punxsutawney.

Day two of the campaign begins this morning with the Make-A-Wish crew broadcasting live from Fox's Pizza Den on North Findley Street in Punxsy from 7 to 9 a.m.; then from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pantall Hotel; and from Foxâs again from 4 to 6 p.m.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â The students at the IUP-Punxsy campus celebrated learning by showing their creativity and goals through a variety of projects Monday afternoon in Punxsutawney.
The title of the program was "Celebration of Learning," and its purpose was to promote critical thinking, technical presentation, skills and graphic presentations.
The projects were displayed and presented inside the IUP-Punxsy campus. All of the projects that were presented were done so by each studentâs choice.
Richard E. Heffner, 76, of DuBois, passed away, Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Heffner was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Washington Township, a son of the late Benjamin F. Heffner and Ruby Mae (Hartzfeld) Heffner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. Brady.
Mr. Heffner loved fishing with his great-grandchildren, hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
