Chucks avenge early defeat, down Raiders

PUNXSUTAWNEY — After suffering the first defeat to Brookville in six years earlier this season, the Punxsy boys' golfers prevailed over Brookville to avenge the loss, 178-187 on the Punxsutawney Country Club's front nine.

The Raiders took the first meeting on Aug. 22nd in Brookville by five strokes, 167-172.

The two rivals saw their top golfers tie for the best round. Punxsy's Mike Blose and Brookville's Jack Huggins both shot a 41 for the par-37 course.

BROOKVILLE — The 7th grade Lady Chucks' basketball team improved its record to 3-0 with an impressive 29-8 win over rival Brookville Lady Raiders Tuesday night.

"It was a team effort, we were looking for everybody and looking for the open girl. With this team it doesn't matter who scores, they're always looking to find the other person," said Punxsy coach Darrin Kriebel.

Commissioners proclaim September United Fund Awareness Month

Local author publishes romance novel

SIGEL — “I’ve always loved books,” local author Colleen Hansen said. “My mom used to read to me from a time that I was very young ... Books have always been magical for me.”

Eventually, it occurred to her that it would be wonderful to write something like that, to be able to take people away and stir their imaginations.

Last month, it culminated in the publication of her first full-length novel, “Roses and Moonlight,” on Aug. 4 under the local company Unknown Authors.
