PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsutawney Area School Board continued to mull over the possibility of some combination of scenarios involving closing Jenks Hill Elementary, moving the third grade into the middle school and moving seventh grade into the high school at its meeting on Monday.
Superintendent Keith Wolfe furthered the discussion by bringing along a compiled list of pros and cons of the specific act of moving the seventh grade into the high school.
"There are some definite pros to moving seventh grade to the high school schedule," he said.
Monday evening, a sure sign of summer fading into the fall took place in Barclay Square, where volunteers gathered to take down the bandstand canopy that is property of the Groundhog Festival Committee.
The canopy served many summer events, from the Groundhog Festival to Music in the Park, over the summer months.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Borough council is planning ahead for community events, from next month's Pizza and Prevention Day to next summer's Groundhog Festival.
At Monday's meeting, council approved a request from the Punxsutawney Fire Department for a street closing and meter bagging for the display of fire apparatus on Saturday, Oct. 6.
The request pertains to the 11th-annual Pizza and Prevention event, which is sponsored by Fox's Pizza Den in Punxsutawney and benefits the fire department.
