Alda Pauline (Brocious) Shick, 98, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center in Punxsutawney.
She was born May 24, 1914, in Ringgold Township, a daughter of the late Osmer and Twila (Dinger) Brocious.
She was married to Preston Shick, who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2002.
Mrs. Shick was a member of the Timblin United Methodist Church in Timblin and was very active as a Sunday School teacher.
She sang in the church choir and was a trustee and worked in the Methodist Women's Organization.

PUNXSUTAWNEY - The Punxsy I-Medical came out with a bang in their dominating 11-0 victory over Farmington that ended after five innings last night at the Rich Kuntz Memorial Field.
Before the game, relatives of Rich Kuntz gathered on the field for the ceremonial first pitch. Mary Jane (Kuntz) Buffington, handed the ball to grandson Johnny Buffinton, along with two-year-old grandson Ashton Buffington, to toss the ceremonial first pitch to fellow grandson and I-Medical right fielder Ruben Taylor at home plate.
REYNOLDSVILLE â In a game that ended up taking approximately 49 hours from first pitch to final out after play was suspended in the second inning Thursday evening due to a torrential downpour, the Brookville Grays earned a 5-3, nine-inning victory over the Sykesville Senators Sunday evening in Reynoldsville to even the Federation League finals at one game apiece.
After falling 14-1 in the series' opening game, Brookville found a way to cool the hot Sens' bats, and with some solid pitching and a timely two-run home run by Eric Painter in the top of the ninth, the Grays earned the win.
RINGGOLD TWP. â A 43-year-old Punxsutawney woman died following a crash that occurred at 5:26 a.m. along Route 536 near Reed Road, according to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police.
Linda Marie Godo died as a result of blunt force trauma, according to Jefferson County Coroner Bernard P. Snyder.
Police said two juveniles also suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The crash occurred as Godo was traveling east on Route 536 and failed to negotiate a left-hand curve on the wet road, police reported.
Punxsutawney firefighters were called to a basement fire at 7:07 p.m. Saturday at 102 Water St.
The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters and caused mostly smoke damage in the basement.
Joe Defelice, Punxsutawney Fire Department assistant chief, said the fire was due to a sump pump that had overheated.
There were no injuries and the family was able to return to their home once the basement was ventilated.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â The weather was stormy throughout the week in Punxsutawney, so much so that the canopy that covers the bandstand in Barclay Square was nearly destroyed in 60 mph winds.
Apparently, someone had other plans, as the canopy was put back in place thanks to the help of many community volunteers â including the Groundhog Festival Committee; Punxsy Lions Club; Smith Hauling, which brought in a crane; and volunteers from Church in the Park â so the program could continue.

AN IMPUDENT HAWK
Yesterday morning, Prof. E. H. McHenry, of East End, heard a commotion on the front porch, and went out to see what was the matter.
Maxine W. Demko, 87, of Punxsutawney and Cortland, Ohio, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Clarence and Edna (Shovestall) Mowrey.
More than 70 years ago, she became the wife of John Demko, who survives.
Maxine and her husband returned to the Punxsutawney area in 1985 and built a summer home, which they enjoyed very much.
Maxine also enjoyed working outside with her flowers and playing Bingo.
Linda M. Godo, 43, Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Ringgold Township.
She was born Aug. 26, 1968, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Joseph Godo and Lenora (Beatty) Godo, who survives, of Punxsutawney.
Sharon Smith, 49, Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, in Punxsutawney.
She was born Sept. 3, 1962, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of Thomas M. Pearce, who survives, of Mahaffey, and the late Velma R. (Shields) Pearce.
Sharon loved flowers, gardening, animals and her dog, Raven.
She was a woman who was devoted to her children and will be missed by many.
