Police cite Ohio woman for abandoning dogs near Stump Creek

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Just a few weeks after 17 dogs — 12 Pomeranians, two Shih Tzus and a Pinscher, among others — were found abandoned in the woods in Stump Creek, police have cited a woman they believe committed the act.

According to WJAC-TV, Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police issued a non-traffic citation to Tiffany Eggleston, 37, of Columbus, Ohio.

The moles of “A Year with Frog and Toad” — (from left) Jen Soliday, Ilona Ball, Laura Chelgren and Sierra Dinger — are rehearsing now, but they will soon be ready to tell you about the adventures of Frog and Toad when the Punxsutawney Theatre Arts Guild presents its summer show at 7:30 p.m. June 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30, as well as a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee June 24 at the Punxsutawney Area Middle School auditorium.

Rossiter Miners' first baseman Tyler Skerkavich dives safely into second base as the ball skips past NAPA Auto Parts' shortstop Mark Guthridge in the fourth inning of Thursday's game between the two squads. Despite his dirty uniform, though, Skerkavich and the rest of the Miners will have to wait until June 24 — during their breast cancer awareness tournament — to determine the outcome, as the game was called after a downpour in the bottom of the fifth inning made the field unplayable.

Mary E. London, 89

Mary E. London, 89, of Cortland, Ohio, formerly of Oliveburg, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio, after a recent fall at home.

She was born March 3, 1923, in Oliveburg, a daughter of the late Norman and Fern (Mitchell) Dinger Sr.

June 27, 1942, she married Paul E. London, who preceded her in death Sept. 19, 1996.

She enjoyed baking, working in the garden and spending time with her family.
