Morgan, Boddorf score well for Punxsy at TSTCAs

WEST MIFFLIN — According to Punxsy girls' head coach Barry Young, it was a "cold, wet, windy and miserable" day weather-wise Saturday at the Tri-State Track and Field Coaches Associa-tion's (TSTCA) outdoor championships in West Mifflin — but the show went on.

The meet hosted a number of the top track programs in the state — including a large sampling of Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) schools known for their strong athletics programs.

JV Chucks win a thriller over the Millionaires

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Despite trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Chucks JV baseball squad never quit battling and came back to earn a 7-5 victory over Williamsport behind a sixth-inning grand slam by Hunter Hickok Saturday afternoon in Punxsutawney.

"Wow, what a game," Punxsy coach Rodney Thompson said after the game. "Coach (Jeremy) Hospodar and I are very proud of these guys and their effort to stay positive and find a way to win. It was a great team effort, and everyone contributed in some way.

Borough: Andrekovich to receive $91,109

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Punxsutawney Borough Police Officer Brian Andrekovich will receive $91,109.46 in a monetary settlement, according to information released Monday by Punxsutawney Borough Council.

Council voted 7-0 at a special meeting last Tuesday to award Androkovich money for lost wages, interest on lost wages, mileage and parking but did not disclose the amount at the meeting.

The Punxsutawney Spirit filed a Right to Know request for the information Wednesday, and the borough responded to the request Monday in an e-mail from Borough Manager Ben White.

Raymond Frederick Dush, 77

April 23, 2012

Raymond Frederick Dush, 77, Brookville, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1935, in Brady Township, Clearfield County, a son of the late Pirl and Ella (Bailor) Dush. 

Aug. 7, 1960, he married Dorothy (Jean) McCracken, who survives, at the Richardsville Baptist Church. 

Penny E. Pearce, 57

Penny E. Pearce, 57, Frostburg, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.

She was born Nov. 11, 1954, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Jessie Brocious.

She was married to Gary L. Pearce, who survives, of Frostburg.
Mrs. Pearce loved garage sales, flea markets and her cats. She also loved working on the computer.
