John Smilo, 87, Glen Campbell, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Grant Township, Indiana County, a son of the late Joseph and Justina (Ivanko) Smilo.
June 15, 1957, Mr. Smilo married his wife of 54 years, Irene (Hook) Smilo, who survives.
He served as Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Smilo was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Urey, where he had actively served his church in many capacities through the years.
Catherine L. â€śCathyâ€ť (Gernat) Wesdock, 80, Punxsutawney, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 5, 2012.
She was born Jan. 6, 1932, in DeLancey, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Gaydos) Gernat.
She graduated from Punxsutawney Area High in 1949.
Nov. 11, 1961, she married Thomas G. Wesdock, who preceded her in death Feb. 16, 2005.
ALTOONA â€” A Punxsy record 10 wrestlers advanced to Friday and Saturday's AAA Northwest Regional Tournament, and for one Chucks' grappler, sophomore Joel Bowers at 113 pounds, the weekend was a great success, as Bowers ended the tournament second in the region to earn a berth to the PIAA Class AAA State Championships Thursday through Saturday in Hershey.
Bowers' weekend started Friday with a pair of notches in the win column, but the first came in unusual fashion with a victory by forfeit over Obama's Malik Green.

Once again, there is a 10-cent difference in the price of gas sold in Brookville versus Punxsutawney.
Several people who were filling up at Punxsy area gas stations/fast-food stores such as Sheetz, Uni-Mart, Kwik-Fill and Saterleeâ€™s Sunoco continue to wonder why the gas is always 10 cents cheaper in DuBois and Brookville than in Punxsy.
William D. Campbell, 59, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, March 4, 2012.
He was born Oct. 20, 1952, in Sewickley, a son of the late William George and Audrey Grace (Uncapher) Campbell.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, tinkering around, spending time with his family and being a practical joker.
Mr. Campbell was a former member of the ISDA and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Phyllis Arlene Kunselman, 81, Cloe, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Yatesboro, a daughter of the late Ira A. and Evelyn (Kennedy) Mauk.
Aug. 29, 1948, she married C. Merle "Guber" Kunselman, who preceded her in death April 15, 2006.
Mrs. Kunselman was a charter member of the F.O. Eagles No. 1231.
She was employed by Sylvania, Cameron, Rola Jensen and was a manager of Paris Cleaners before retiring in 1992.
Gladys C. Morrison, 92, Laurelbrooke Drive, Brookville, formerly of East Main Street, Brookville, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at McKinley Health Center.
She was born Sept. 24, 1919, in Falls Creek, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lottie (Matthewes) Chittester.
June 8, 1946, in Brookville, she married William L. Morrison Jr., who preceded her in death Jan. 8, 2012.
A homemaker, Mrs. Morrison was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Brookville and a past Matron of Honor of the O.E.S. No. 320 of Brookville.

ALTOONA â€” Over the past weekend, Punxsy's wrestling team traveled to Altoona for the Class AAA Northwest Regional Tournament, with a record number of 10 Chucks advancing to the tournament.
One Punxsy grappler â€” sophomore Joel Bowers â€” earned a berth to the PIAA Class AAA State Championships next weekend in Hershey.
Bowers earned victories over McDowell's Coleman Cousins (2-1 decision) and St. Marys' Evan Smith (10-2 decision), avenging a loss to Smith in the D-IX tournament last weekend.
A Texas man escaped serious injury when he rolled his vehicle over around 12:15 a.m. Saturday morning in Cloe, Bell Township. According to police, a 2006 Lexus driven by Clarence J. Craft, Texas, was traveling south on Route 36 when he lost control and rolled his vehicle over, shearing off a utility pole at the same time. Police were assisted at the scene by Jefferson County EMS, Punxsutawney Fire Department, Rebuck's South Side Service and Penelec.
