Jules’ latest Bubble’s World book — ‘Isabella’s Magic Dream’ — may just be her last

PUNXSUTAWNEY — If you're a fan of the Bubble's World children's books series, then you'll be happy to know the sixth edition is out and ready for purchase, "Bubble's World — Isabella's Magic Dream."

The bad news is, according to the author Jules (Julie Branken of Punxsutawney), this could very well be the last book in the series.

"This series of children's books are about a magic bubble, which represents children's imagination," Branken said, adding that through their imagination, children can go anywhere and do anything they want.

Weekend’s Sycamore dryer fire ruled arson

PUNXSUTAWNEY — A 17-year-old juvenile male from Punxsutawney was arrested by Punxsutawney Borough Police on arson charges regarding the dryer fire that occurred at 2:23 p.m. Dec. 1 at Sycamore Apartments at 505 Sycamore St.

The fire was extinguished by a maintenance worker and the dryer was removed from the building before firefighters arrived on scene.

Tom Fedigan, Punxsy Borough Police chief, said the investigation is ongoing and the case will be forwarded to the Jefferson County Juvenile Court.

Glenn Allen Gwinn, 82

Glenn Allen Gwinn, 82, of Big Run, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at home.
Glenn was born Nov. 10, 1930, in West Virginia.

On July 30, 1954, he married the former Donna Jean Boucher. She survives and resides in Big Run.

He was a United States Navy veteran, having served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired after 28 years in the United States Navy in 1976.

He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed watching the games.

Harriet M. “Hattie” Getch, 97

Harriet M. Getch, 97, Anita, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at her home.
She was born March 19, 1915, in Helvetia, Pa., a daughter of the late Andrew and Violet (Broadbent) Jacobson.

On Nov. 19, 1933, she married Joseph N. Getch, who preceded her in death on June 5, 1983.

She was a member of the Anita Assembly of God Church in Anita.

She was a member of the Good News Club and Vacation Bible Club, and she taught the Adult Sunday School Class.

She was a housewife and a loving mother.

Former PAHS soccer star finishes college Rugby career

LOCK HAVEN — While in college, many like to venture out and try new things to expand their horizons. Former PAHS soccer striker, Khris Cleary, wanted to stay involved in athletics but pursued a different, much rougher route when he joined the Lock Haven rugby club team during his sophomore year at the school.

The PAHS 08' grad is weeks away from finishing his last classes at Lock Haven before he starts an internship in High Point, North Carolina in a couple of months to complete his Sports Administration degree.

In 2009, Cleary's sophomore year, he decided to join the rugby team.
