MARION CENTER â It is always nice to live up to preseason billing, which is what the Punxsy middleweight grapplers did Wednesday night.
The middle of Punxsyâs wrestling lineup reeled off six straight victories to take the team past Marion Center, 46-28, in the dual season opener in Marion Center.
âI am happy with the match. We did a lot of good things. We were sharp on our feet and decent on the bottom,â explained Chucks head coach Eric Eddy. âIt is our goal to start a run at 126 each match with Joel Bowers, Kaleb Young, Josh Shuckers and Perry Arrington.â
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Over $199,000 in scholarships were announced Wednesday at the Punxsutawney Christian School (PCS) as part of the stateâs Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program.
Lori Galbraith, PCS administrator, welcomed the guests to her school for the presentation of the money to area private and parochial schools through Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) scholarship donations.
Galbraith said PCS is thankful for the Bridge Foundation and its continued support by blessing their families with scholarships.
The SS.C.D. School's children's choir performed for the residents of Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney live on WPXZ radio during the Make-A-Wish Light Up A Child's Life campaign Wednesday. Jessica Newcome, SS.C.D. principal, said the students have held five separate fundraisers for Make-A-Wish "dress down" days which included: Pajama day, sports team day, camouflage day for hunting season and crazy hat day. She said the students also held "penny war days" which was won by the sixth graders, who will receive a pizza party as their reward.

The oft-quoted holiday song brings with it a sense of warmth and nostalgia for those who are able to travel the distance, great or small, to be with their families over the holiday season. For soldiers serving our country, whether at home or abroad, the song could stand as a painful reminder that they will not be able to spend the holidays with their families.
