PITTSBURGH â€” On a recent Saturday October night, Punxsy native Mark Aaron scored a unanimous decision win over Damon Palmer of Eastside PAL, in the 178-pound novice division at the Edgewood Club in Pittsburgh.
Aaron was able to use his superior reach and height along with having a strong jab to set up good combinations and outscore his opponent.
He trains a Helman's PAL in Punxy and is scheduled for action again in mid-November in Tarentum.
Also preparing for first bouts are local heavyweight Marcus Williams and lightweights Colton Sheilds and Parker Vernot.
The Punxsy Chucks football team held its annual banquet on Tuesday night at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. WINSLOW TOWNSHIP â€” DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police reported Tuesday that an investigation has been launched into the alleged sexual assault of a 9-year-old female.
The alleged incident(s) took place between July 1 and Oct. 9 at a residence in Winslow Township.
The investigation is ongoing.
BROOKVILLE â€” Christopher Thornhill, the alleged shooter of two Punxsutawney men back in September 2011, faced his supposed victims and other individuals as they testified against him on day two of his trial on Tuesday in Brookville.
Thornhill has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and other related offenses.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is being represented in the case by District Attorney Jeff Burkett. Defense Attorney Fred Hummel is representing Thornhill.
