PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Punxsutawney Borough Council voted 6-1 to begin legal action to foreclose against Stello Foods Inc. of Punxsutawney for being delinquent on its payments earlier this year to the borough's Economic Loan Fund.
Nick Stello, president of Stello Foods, spoke to council during the meeting, and during an executive session he spoke with the media, saying that with council acting against his company, he'll be forced to declare bankruptcy.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” Following a long discussion at Mondayâ€™s meeting, Punxsutawney Borough Council voted 5-2 to allow the Punxsutawney Fire Department to hold Halloween from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Michelle "Boo" Lorenzo, council member, said there will still be a separate Halloween celebration that will take place in the East End of Punxsutawney from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 27, with her traditional haunted house and treat bags being given out.
All area children are invited to attend that event as well.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” In light of recent discussions regarding changes to school scheduling, High School Principal David London spoke to the school board at its meeting Monday about some of the advantages and disadvantages of the seven-period school day versus the eight-period school day.
The original discussions came about as the board was mulling the possibility of a school closure, involving moving seventh grade to the high school and third grade to the middle school.
