PUNXSUTAWNEY â The research is continuing regarding the purchase and installation of a GPS system for Punxsutawney Borough Police vehicles and possibly some others.
The Grant County Sheriff's office in Arkansas has been using the Wireless Matrix GPS system that Punxsutawney Borough Council has been looking at for use here, said Tom Fedigan, Punxsutawney Borough Police chief, at Monday's Punxsutawney Borough Council meeting.
Last weekend, members of the Punxsutawney VFW Post 2076 and the Ladies Auxiliary participated in âBuddy Poppy Daysâ to raise funds to help support veterans.
Both organizations wanted to thank everyone who helped and who donated to their cause.

Alma Smith, 81, of Murray, Utah, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1931, in Creekside, Pa., a daughter of the late Blair Neal and Alta Welder Neal.
She married Ivan Q. Smith, who preceded her in death.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Jennifer (Jim) Brass of Murray, Utah, and Vanda (Bill) Erdos of Bethel Park, Pa.; five grandchildren, Jamie Brass, Katie Beechler, Scott Brass, Abby Brass and Erin Erdos; and a great-grandson, Peyton Beechler.
A memorial service will be held at Circle Hill Cemetery in Punxsutawney at a later date.
