Punxsy wins in full-team effort

January 24, 2012

PUNXSUTAWNEY — All 12 of the players who saw time for the Lady Chucks basketball team Monday night scored at least two points, and Punxsy cruised to a 70-16 victory over the Lady Owls of Harmony in Punxsutawney.

Despite the large number on the scoreboard for the Punxsy, it was a balanced attack, as Emily Horner and Taylor Newcome were the only two Punxsy players to reach double-digits, with 14 and 10 points respectively.

The Lady Chucks scored 46 of their 70 points in the first half and held the Lady Owls to just nine over the first two quarters.

Brookville battles back for win over Punxsy

Chucks head coach Dirk Neal decided to change up his defensive scheme at the beginning of the game, electing for a triangle and two set-up. The defense worked early, and the Chucks were able to capitalize.

Monday, public defender John Ingros, representing Rebert, called to the stand Stephen Buttering, Brockway, who testified that he was home the night of April 10, 2010.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsutawney Chamber of Commerce, in it’s most basic sense, is the glue that holds the community together, responsible for many behind-the-scenes projects that support Punxsy.

“We are really the front desk for the community,” Executive Director Marlene Lellock said. “It’s the place that people from out of town, if they want to know anything about the community — whether they want to move here, locate a business here, or come to visit — we are the place they call.”
