The Zak Zone

January 18, 2012

Academics is something that I have always held very near and dear in my life.

I grew up a bookworm, always reading every chance I could — a habit I wish I had continued throughout my adolescent and college years — and have always loved to study anything and everything.

Growing up, my favorite parts of the newspaper were the agate of the sports pages, where I could analyze the statistics and standings of each of my favorite sports, and the "Today in History" section, where in such a short amount of time I could learn so much about the history of a single day on the calendar.

Spack earns 100th victory, Punxsy comes up short

January 18, 2012

NEW BETHLEHEM — Punxsy wrestling coach Eric Eddy told anyone who asked him this week it would take "a perfect match" to beat Redbank Valley when the Chucks traveled there Tuesday night. Punxsy came within four points of reaching that match but fell just short in a 33-29 loss — one which saw Punxsy's Seth Spack reach the 100-win milestone to become just the fourth Chuck to do so.

Spack earned his 100th tonight, joining Neko Cappella, who did it this season, as well, and Matt Means and Kody Young as the only wrestlers in Punxsy history to reach the mark.

"It was a blood bath," Neal said. "We had two starters foul out in Garrett Zimmerman and Alex Fedigan early in the fourth quarter."
