Golf: It seems like such a simple game in its concept, doesn't it?
You take a club â quite the primitive term â and hit a ball, as in many other sports.
First, you usually hit it as far as you can. They call that the drive.
Then comes the approach, which usually means hitting it pretty hard, but not as hard as you can.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Torrence Street traffic light project was given a green light â literally â Wednesday, as the new traffic signals were put into service by sub-contractor Perram Electric of Ohio.
Roger Steele, chairman of Punxsutawney Borough Councilâs Public Works Committee, said through the project, council is exploring a way to decrease the traffic flow on Mahoning Street, with the widening of Torrence Street as part of a PennDOT traffic study.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â For the 10th straight year, Scott Anthony, owner of Foxâs Pizza Den in Punxsutawney, is sponsoring âPizza and Preventionâ from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
During Pizza and Prevention, Foxâs is offering a Big Daddy Pepperoni Pizza for only $9.11.
Along with the fund-raiser, âTouch the Truckâ is back again this year with a twist, as the new $322,000 Elk Run fire engine â financed by the borough â will be delivered to the department today and on display Saturday with other Punxsutawney Fire Department equipment along South Findley Street.
