Dr. Thomas E. Cressley, DDS, 89, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 13, 1922, in Glen Campbell, a son of the late Clayton and Marvel (Gibson) Cressley.
Aug. 13, 1950, he married Florinda (Anderson) Cressley, who preceded him in death Dec. 16, 1997.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Dr. Cressley was a retired dentist and a graduate of Glen Campbell High School, Waynesburg University and the University of Pittsburgh Dental School.
Margy D. Kuntz, 77, Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late John Kopnitsky, Effie (Reams) Kopnitsky and Ruby (Geist) Kopnitsky.
Ms. Kuntz worked for Lorree Footwear and Standard Pennant Company. Later, she was a seamstress for the Stitchers Mound.
Elizabeth Woods, 86, Rossiter, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Winslow Township, a daughter of the late Blair W. and Hazel B. (Uplinger) Vandervort.
She was married to Delmont "Smokey" Woods, who survives, of Punxsutawney.
Mrs. Woods worked many years as an LPN. She also worked private duty and was an excellent caregiver and a midwife.
She had many friends and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Police have named a suspect who faces charges of criminal attempted homicide in the Thursday evening shooting of two Punxsy men.
Friday, Punxsutawney Borough Police Chief Tom Fedigan said his department and Pennsylvania State Police Troop C’s Major Case Team are investigating the shooting that occurred around 9:30 p.m. Thursday along Cranberry Alley.
In his statement, Fedigan said Christopher Lawrence Thornhill, 24, who has Pittsburgh as his last known address, shot the two Punxsy men multiple times.
