COVODE â Jefferson County Control reported an overturned tractor-trailer was leaking fluid â possibly diesel fuel and acid, according to scanner transmissions â around 11:40 p.m. Thursday night along Route 119 in the Covode area.
Fire crews and fire police from Punxsutawney closed Route 119 from Route 210 south toward the scene.
Scanner transmissions also indicated the people in the area of the crash were evacuated.
Also responding to the scene were Perry Township firefighters, Indiana County's Hazmat unit and PennDOT, among others.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â During Tuesdayâs Public Safety committee meeting, Punxsutawney Memorial Library Director Coral Ellshoff said she would like to improve the signage and increase the visibility of the entrance at the library.
Committee member and council President Susan Glessner said her only request was that the lettering be consistent with the rest of the lettering on the building.
The Sharp Tones â (from left) Oz Stuckey, Lorelei McCarty and Denny Ivory â ham it up during their performance of The Shangri-Lasâ âLeader of the Packâ during their first set at Music in the Park Thursday in Barclay Square. The summer music series has now hit its halfway mark, and only three more shows remain.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Punxsutawney Little League complex will be just as crowded this weekend as it was last weekend, and for a very similar reason.
This time, though, softball will be the sport highlighted instead of baseball, as 20 teams from across the region will play in four different age groups: Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16.
Punxsy will be represented in three of the age brackets.
